1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
1 Attachment(s)
I have found something that possibly requires me to sell one or two of my cars. It is a tough choice but I am listing my 63 Vette first. I will put as much info as I can but can be contacted for more details and or pics. I will take undercarriage pics this weekend and post. Car was owned by Burrel Wainer of Il. from May of 63 until 2003. Barry as he likes to be called is still very much alive and a great guy with many stories to tell about the car. The car was purchased via Ebay and the 2nd owner started the complete frame off resto. About 75% of the way I talked him into selling me the car and I had the car finished at Corvettes Only in Mo. in early 06. The car is in Orange Calif. now and just scored 98.1% and a Top Flight award at it's 1st time out on Oct 1st in Calabasas Ca. I have corrected about 80% of the items on the judging sheets since then. The car retains all of it's original body panels except for the tailight panel as Barry added the Calif. Special 3rd taillight in 63. The car was born with the optional Sebring Silver with Red vinyl interior. It was painted with Lacquer paint. It has it's original 340hp engine, original 4 speed CL Muncie trans, and orig. 3:70 posi rearend. It was also optioned with power brakes with the metallic linings and am/fm radio. Car is documented by the orig owner, orig warranty booklet filled out by the dealer, orig dealer sales invoice and copy of orig title. I also have a videotaped interview with Barry with the car. This is an impossible combination to find with a perfect body, paperwork, drivetrain and colors. This is a special car to me and I would be glad to expand with words or pics and welcome any onsite inspection to serious buyers. This car could go all the way to the Nat'l level in NCRS. Asking price $93,500. Dana [email protected]

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
WOW, really nice car...u sure you don't want to cut loose that 68 yenko project car?

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
Dana,
Correct me if I'm wrong please... But I thought the first year for the Muncie was '64 and a Borg Warner was used in '63? Was the Muncie an option? Stunning example, nice price. -Dan |
Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
Thanks. As for the Yenko, I am a sucker for the project cars. Is it just me or do other people see their car as it is going to be while the people standing right next to you see a pile of junk and wonder why you are smiling? I have started on the 68 but will push it harder soon. Just trying to drum up some cash. Can't wait to smoke the tires. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Muncie was phased in middle of 63 production. For good reason. Good question.

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
I have had a lot of mid years and 63 is by far the most confusing. Several running changes throughout the year makes working on these cars a challenge. There were many huddles by the NCRS judges at the meet over things like valve cover bolts. No ONE book for this car.

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
Dana - i think alot of are like you...we have a vision of the completed car that drives us...as you said, some look at it like a pile of rust (like my wife when we go to a sway meet :-).
The 63 is real sharp car...never owed one but i love that split window look. Post a few progress pics on the yenko! |

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
That is strange. I think it is a stain because the flash was in front of me, but it could be the shadow of Zora....

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
I will sell you the lift for 93.5k and the car goes with it. What a deal. The company is family owned and they take a lot of care in the building. The name is Reed, out of the midwest. They brought it to me and set it up! Little pricey though. Email or PM me if you want contact info, I can get it from paperwork.

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
I have mixed emotions about selling this car but, I have taken a deposit and the car will be sold to someone on this site. Thanks for all of your comments and questions. Once again I have had a great experience! Enjoy a great car.

Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
Beautiful car , but i'm partial to the 63 splits.
If its not a problem i was wondering if you could give me the codes on the carburator since its a 63 340hp car? ( im not 100% sure on mine so i would like to compare ) Also , is it a Early car ? i've been told that the floors under the seats are different in the early cars .. They have a dip in the pan from the rear? Mine is originally a Sebring silver car as well but like many of them , it was redone in red. Thanks and congrats to the new owner! Re: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
Thanks. I am partial to Silver in 63's. Your car looks great. Two compartments about the size of a 6 pack each were below and to the rear of each seat until about the 12,000th vin. Tool storage? My car was later, 15,802. My carb was part# 3826004 model 3461S AFB.
