LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

Car has been on jack stands for the last 12-15 years. Org owner, Org Drivetrain still in car. Stripes were removed when the wife got tired of all the High School boys coming over to talk with her when she would drop her daughter off at school in the morning and picking her up in the afternoon. Emblems were removed when there was a rash of emblem steeling in their part of the city. They are in boxes stored away https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

WOW. What a nice project.Probally with some fresh gas, new points and a good battery the old girl would even start and move that old m22 once agin. Yes Sir then she would be right back to eating up fords and mopars to get her strength back.

I saw a post about the same car on Team Chevelle a while back. Did you buy the car?
Cool project.http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e43/Rixls6/drool5.gif

WOW, thanks for sharing, that car looks like a time-capsule ... if you bought it, I think you have a fairly easy resto on your hands (better than what I've started with at times), it appears to be a complete virgin car.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

Car is a 1st week of June, built in Van Nuys and originally sold from Aloha Motors. Code 58 Autumn Gold. The original owner (current) threw all the paperwork away years ago. All original drivetrain and pretty much original through out. NOT for the faint of heart however. It is all there but not very pretty underneath. We shall see.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

hopefully i will get over there this weekend, He wants to move it so the wife can park closer to the front door. Have a bore scope to check the top of the tank if he doesnt let me drop it down to view. Also will be checking the ususal places inside for any paperwork. He did put a different carb on the car but the org is also in the box with all the emblems.

Looks like it has "Malibu" door panel emblems. Some Super Sports were delivered that way. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

I believe most SS454 Chevelles, in `70 at least, came with the Malibu door emblems. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif There are exceptions I think.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

Thanks Jeff, I love to see the forgotten iron. As far as the Malibu door emblems. My brothers (2) LS-6's have, SS emblems on the Baltimore car and Malibu emblems on the Atlanta car. My brother was thinking of putting SS emblems on the Atlanta car to avoid all the banter from people at the car shows telling him that the car must be fake and the fact both cars are No stripe coul hood cars. I think I have him talked into putting the Malibu emblems on. Have to start educating the people sooner or later.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

I would agree that most SS454 Chevelles seem to have the Malibu emblems on the door panels. As I recall the buildsheet on the 454's did not direct the line workers to uses the "SS" the door panel emblems like the 396 cars.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

My Baltimore LS6 has the SS door emblems.Back to this car- has the time come where one like this is still worth the cost of a proper restoration? Obviously in it's present condition it's authenticity is unquestionable, but once restored, with lack of "tissue",and a couple of owners(and a 100k later)how, do you validate it? Who will spend that type of money on an undocumented car(even with fake docs.) Since " only original once" cars are en vougue maybe you just clean this up like previously mentioned and oogle over it for the relic it is.

An extremely well photo/video documented restoration would keep it real. Plus there is probably 90 buildsheets in it to find.

Soaking it in vat of WD-40? 36 years of 80% humidity with those floorboards and I'm gettin flashbacks to Fred Flintstone's ABS system on his coupe..

Not flamin ya Jeff the car is cool as heck! Could probably count on one hand how many LS6's got delivered to the islands https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Okay; what methods / solvents are used to get those kinds of results? I'd love to try some of that on my Corvette.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Org Owner

I wish I had known about this product while de rusting my 70 chevelle project, I spent many hours blasting my car finding rust in spots even paint had covered at some point in time, and boy how I wish I had found a car like this one. I was almost under the impression that 70 cheveles were all but extinct when trying to find one, I drug mine from a wrecker/junkyard stripped to nothin but a body and frame then while researching parts and info finding more and more cars are out there, amazingly. and when someone finds one like this one, well it really brings back that feeling of saturday nights on the strip. And i do undersyand the mixed feelings of wether to restore or not but I agree that if it is well documented by photographs and reciepts along with project notes with dates this car would be well woth the resto . there a tuxedo black w/ white stripes on ebay now with high bid of $60,000.00 and going! and its not numbers matching the engine is correc date but not original ,had been replaced.
