Statistical Analysis

Does anyone have a good background in statistical analysis that would be willing to provide me with some assistance regarding a study that I am trying to complete?

Thanks

You need someone with a CONFIDENCE LEVEL of 95% that knows their R value is within 2 STANDARD DEVIATIONS of the MEAN, excluding any EXTREME OUTLIERS https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I loved my stat classes, but other than an occasional linear regression line in excel - don't really use it enough to remember it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: Statistical Analysis

Are you referring to SPC analysis...stuff like that? I had to set up the complete program at the printed circuit board facility where I was employed at so that we could get everything 'in control' so our scrap rate would drop.

We had to have a first pass rate of 99% (1% or less scrap rate) so that big vendors like Motorola/Xerox/Cisco Systems/Evans and Sutherland would buy from us...we also had to be ISO9002 certified...but that's a whole 'nother story... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: Statistical Analysis

I developed regression models to predict vehicle speeds and crashes at roundabouts. The models are continuous functions. I am required to introduce limits to the models so that the models do not violate mathematical laws when the independent variable(s) approach zero and infinity. I have to figure out how to limit the range of the independent variable(s) when formulating the regression models.

I'm familiar with SPC (statistical process analysis, or Control, as it is called)

Bruce & Verne,

Unfortunately, I am not a statistics guy. Will SPC perform the analysis as described above?

Thanks

Re: Statistical Analysis

Statistical process control is used to get processes that are out of control...into control...by using graphs over a period of time to show what's actually occuring in the the process...meaning that you can predict the outcome before it happens...i.e. when a plating bath is going to go south...so you refresh the chemicals before the bath no longer functions correctly...and you save yourself from having any scrap material...

Make sense?

Re: Statistical Analysis

"roundabouts"??? You must be from overseas. Here in Jiosey, they're just called circles, and most of them have been eliminated because nobody understands the basic rule: Once you're on the circle, you have the right-away over anyone entering the circle.
I think you have too many uncontrolable variables contributing to the outcome (crashes) to make a sensible statistical probable outcome. You'd have to control the speeds and entrance & exit intervals of the cars at the circle, and that could only be done with stop lights all around and in the circle. So why not just give up and make it a cross intersection with a normal set of lights.?
IF you really want to keep traffic flowing without risk of crashes, get rid of the circle AND the lights and build overpasses and ramps.

I HATE traffic lights................ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Actually, I believe it's "Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament..." And then something like "I can't seem to get left!" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

We ain't got none of those roundybouts here in Donahue. Sounds like some sissy liberal commie pinko idea to keep us distracted. Now we do get some folks who try to do the speed , crash, infinity thing. Then we go out in them big red trucks with the flashin lights, and scrape em up, and send em off to folks like Tom. Don't know than they found infinity, but they sure enough found eternity. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Re: Statistical Analysis

I'll pull my stat book out this weekend Mike. The issue is how to introduce limits to the equation without ruining the model, therefore keeping it 'predictable'. SPC is not 'truly' statistical, but.... eh, close enough.
