Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
Is it the same as the L78 Camaro bracket? If so, I'll take a picture of mine after work.

Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
The 1970 L-78 Camaro used a different bracket.
Nova & Chevelle L-78's were the same. |

Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
That bracket above is a 1970 Camaro Holley equipped application..i.e. LT-1 & L-78.
That one looks like the much later issued #814 bracket,as compared to the original design #982 bracket with the wider offset. Here is the Nova-Chevelle #619 L-78 & LS-6 bracket. Pictures were featured here last year in a topic by P.J.of their different variations. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/134786-3brackets.jpg |

Yes Peter
There is a difference in the 619 brackets for the L78 VS the Ls6 brackets. In the reaserch I did a year ago I found out after looking at about 15 cars that were origional cars documented that the bracket on the right of the 3 brackets is the L78 bracket. And the 2 on the left are ls6 cars. I did not find any l78 cars with the ls6 bracket.I dont know why the brackets are differnt with the same part number As you can see some numbers are deeper than others, thats because the die that struck the brackets were sharpened and the bump lock on the die was not ground the same amount to offset the new die punch heigth. The differnce is in the locking tab area. I am including a pic of the real L78 bracket for the 70 chevelle. Peter |

Who's Peter. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
I don't think that recess for the tab was L-78 specific, but more of a certain regional suppliers early tooled version, and thus found their way on a few L-78 Chevelles.(Early production) There are a few L-78 Nova-Chevelles that have that non recessed tab version too, that claim to be untampered with today. Who really knows for sure. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
Sorry Rick
I had St Peter on my mind Yes you are right. All the ones I ran into were the early brackets for the L78 I beleive that the die was modified later because of ease of maintainance and that is why the change in the bracket, Peter |
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..

Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
I found mine on a 1970 NOva l78 car. I offered the owner
a 4557 dated carb for his car, which he did not have. So if you find one be prepared to put a mortgage on your house to get one good luck https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Peter |
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
My 70 L78 Camaro which is an 01C car with a T1030CKO engine has the 982 bracket, I just checked it.

Does anyone know the application and time frame of the 6261814 bracket? [/ QUOTE ] That #814 Bracket was released on May 1972. It superceded bracket #3980982,which was intended for the 1970-72 Camaro when equipped with LT-1 solid lifter engine and the 1970 L-78 Camaro. Possibly the 1970 Deuce Nova too? It has a different offset compared to the #619 Bkt. and is also different then the L-34/L-48/LS-3/LS-4/LS-5 engine #3992376 Bkt. Near as I can see,it was produced well into the 1980's before being discontinued. I'm off to Jefferson to Buy all the #619 Bkts. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
Your correct MR70 I checked with GM parts and they said it was discontinued on 11/89.Does anyone wanna trade a 814 for a 619?Thank you all for the info.
|
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
Could it be possable that the 814 was a service replacment for all the above? All of these are so close in design that any will function on any Holley carbbed mill.
|
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
I think the #619 was still being made at the same time as the #814.
My earlier point was the #814 was indeed an over the counter service replacement for the discontinued #982 all along, but look in a 1972 Camaro Ass.Manual to confirm if the #814 shows up in it as an assembly line component. |
Re: 70 L78 throttle cable bracket..
Does anybody want to trade a 376 for a 619 while were at it.? Thanks
