I wonder if this window sticker and will ever be found.

HAVE NOT FOUND THE BUILD SHEET BUT DO HAVE THE PROTECTO PLATE AND HE HAS THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER AND INVOICE SOMEWHERE IN STORAGE, IF HE CAN FIND IT. I OFFERED HIM $1000.

I think the guy posted at camaros.net and had the pop decoded there, then it appeared on ebay. Might be a real one.

Already at $50k for a X drag car that need a complete resto and doesnt have the original drivetrain?? Im sure its worth a pretty penny when done but the price seems really steep to me with all that time left on the auction. Who knows maybe Im missing something??

I believe that it is probably legit... but IMHO the price is CRAZY https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif but then again in a year I may be saying it was a helluva deal. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

I remember just a few years ago, walking past cars just like that one, because the guy wanted $20K. Times sure have changed.
It is an L89, with a POP. Pretty special car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

He was asking over on the other site to have the POP decoded.
That means he bought it without knowing what it was.
Probably paid $1200.00 for it.
Why can't something like that happen to me? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif

The TC POP thread

Likely a real L89 car (pending a valid POP, of course). But no original engine https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

ill tell you what's hilarious.

no drivetrain,and up to 50K.

it's even more hilarious now, than when it was at 20K..

the 9000 actual miles is funny, too.

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

If original owner can provide the documents then verifing the car is easy. "X2" on the rear and X22 on the trim tag makes the car very cool. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

9000 miles 1/4 mile at a time is not unreasonable or unheard of especially for a car that was drag raced a lot.

Only problem I have is paying big money for a car without original motor/tranny but that's just me. After it is sold the original motor/tranny just might show up. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
Stranger things have happened and with a POP to verify I wouldn't doubt it happens. Hope it doesn't.

Only area on the body that bothers me is the rear section. Says it was never wrecked and he shows clean original floors but the trunk looks lke new splatter paint and that "beautiful decklid" is from a 1967 Camaro. I would want to check that out but other then that the car is very clean.

Neat car and a rare find if legit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Now the bid is $60,399. What would it cost to do a nut and bolt on this car? Then you just need the original motor and tranny. What's this car worth? Is anyone from this board bidding on this car? If so PM me.

Charley, I am not going to draw conclusions like Don has made, but PontiacHomeSlice has bid on DanStreetRods cars before. I do not think it is so uncommon but makes you think.

I happen to love buying from the same people on ebay because you know who you are dealing with. Several people here bid on the same types of items from the same people. It might be true that something fishy is going on, but could also be a legit bid.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220017166607

look at the bidder's lists.

THIS IS THE GUY SELLING THE L89 CAR??? HE USES EVERYONE ON THIS SITE AND THE YENKO SITE FOR INFORMATION TO HELP HIM LINE HIS POCKETS....

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

UNREAL! On the other forum in a thread not related to this one, the guy states his partner listed a car and also posted the item number. These two guys (pontiachomeslice and danstreetrods) ARE partners and running up the bids!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Now you have to wonder if the L89 car is real.

This is getting out of hand.

Unfortunately, once a car is listed on ebay, the "average buyer" is already eliminated, unless you live next door to the seller and catch him before his first email or phone call.

I know one guy that has loads of money and has nothing to do with this site that is interested in this car. He and I have been disucssing the car quite a bit. Once it's on Ebay, it's public information......

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

I agree, sites like these help the average joe save himself from getting taken. Besides, if Average Joe got a deal on the car what would be the most likely outcome? 69Motion, if you won the car, what would you plan on doing with it? There are 2 sides to every coin. Also, just because the seller's integrity has been called to question does not necessarily mean the car should be called into question.

why is everyone so surprised that there may be deceptive practices on ebay????

this is one example of why the s.y.c. site has done so much to educate members on how to make a wise and safe purchase, ie. owner history, correct documentation, etc. this world is a scarry place when money is concerned. go into any transaction with your eyes wide open, especially e-bay. jmo

Re: EBAY 9000 mile L-89 Camaro

"if people on this site and others would just shut there mouths the would be more deals for the average buyer who doesnt have crab boats full of money"

First of all the seller had already asked questions about this car on Team Camaro, then listed the ebay auction there...

Second, if you think that the people who are in the market for these cars do not watch ebay or have people on the look out for them then you are sadly mistaken.

Third IMHO the only way to get a deal on ebay is to educate yourself on every facet of the particular car that you are in the market for (actually this is a very good idea even if you are not going to buy something one ebay) find the one you are interested in and either contact the seller and get him to sell it to you instead of letting the auction run or find the Buy It Now's that are under priced and click the button... just remember buying things outside of ebay is risky because there are many scammers...
