Motion broken axle crew check in here

Hey just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone for diving in and getting a replacement axle in my car.

There literally was a swarm of people helping, so I am missing several people.

Thanks; Mark Milchak (drove 40 min 1 way to get an axle)Brian Henderson, Joe B, Joe S, Morocco, Steve, Kim H (workbench lol), Chris Short, etc...

2 Guys drove my son to get gear lube.

Barnhart, Rayburn P, J Jarvis, and others loaned us some much needed tools.

Think I counted 25 people at one time so check in so I can thank everyone. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Post some pics if you have them.

Re: Motion broken axle crew check in here

Mark I would have done it for anyone... I'm just glad that it was only an axle and not something else... I'm sure glad you son was on the ball when he decided not to travel the quarter with the car in that situation... That could have been pretty ugly... I hope you will put some stronger axles in the car and try the slicks again... I'll see you next year. Mark https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Mark, to see that car running so hard that it twists axles off like they were made of chewing gum is just flat out awesome. Anyone who says these cars are just "investments" and that the interest in them is going to go away should change their mind in about 30 seconds at any SCR Friday afternoon. I think I can speak for everyone helping out that it was cool to be able to get it all back together and ready to kick some more a$$ with the limited resources available, although I must admit that Howie's tailgate made a pretty good workbench. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Besides that, how many guys can honestly say they worked on a Phase III Baldwin Motion car? (even if it was with 3 flatblade screwdrivers, a 3/8" drive extension and a claw hammer. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif )

no way was that Howie's truck we were working on!!..I did'nt see one crushed beer can in the bed...he must have borrowed it from the neighbor... the clutch pack springs put up a fight but we prevailed. like the guys said no guy left behind and it was fun to get dirty out playing. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Budnate, 7:00 that night I parked next to Capt. Carls truck which we sat on the tail gate. The back of the box became a can box. The next day 50+ cans and pizza box was in the back of it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I happened by and saw a HUGE crowd around Hassett's '68...I'm talking 25-30 folks easy! I peaked through and could see some folks under the car with the rear apart, and it had almost a seminar feel to it, with the SCW boys front & center as usual! Talk about going the extra mile!! Those guys never cease to amaze me, year in and year out...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Hello, Mark it was me and Randy that took your son to the store to pick up the gear lube and other supplies. It was no problem. I was glad to give a hand where I could to get your car back together. I know that I was amazed at the crowd of people that where working on the car once we got back with the supplies. What a great bunch of guys.

It was very nice to hang out with you and your son at the show and banquet. I enjoyed hearing your car stories. I was also going to let you know that I'm still working on getting the information on the guy that made the Motion T-shirt I was wearing. I'm pretty sure I have his information some where. I will PM you once I find it. Talk to you later and take care. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Jesse

Re: Motion broken axle crew check in here

Jeff, I don't think that's Dick Harrell. Dick was a lot thinner. Could be Charlie T or Jim Hayter.JMO

ORIGLS6 09-06-2006 07:52 PM

Re: Motion broken axle crew check in here

Yeah, I think Dick was more the size of Ronnie Sox; to the far right. Maybe a little taller but no heavier.

Not Fred either; too heavy. Could be Charlie.

Kinda like what we said in the parking lot Saturday night; The SCR really is a Reunion of 'family', who just happen to bring along some pretty cool cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Yeah, when I saw the pic of the guys under the Motion Camaro this picture is the first thing I thought of. I think the guy with the Fred Gibb shirt on was Dick Harrell. That guy is pretty darn thin. Either way, that is the thing I love the most about the Yenko Sports Car Club. Guys that are willing to do anything for you. I will never forget the guys from SCW and the Barr boys wrenching on my Deuce as I paced back and forth like a nervous father waiting for his baby to be born! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Could be Dick,........... or Fred, or.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif If you zoom in it looks like he's wearing a red jacket over the red shirt. Depends on when the picture is dated. Is that the '71 S&M car? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif If so, and if I see what I think I do (some gray hair), then I would have to say it's Fred.

If the Plymouth lettering is gold leaf, then it was the fall of '70 when the '70 car had been changed to '71 taillights & grill. If it is silver leaf, then it is the '71 car which first appeared at Pomona.
