Odd??? Just look at those stripes...Why is it people find more ways to screw up a 68 stripe? If they get any fatter you might as well put two Z stripes down the side.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

I agree Odd.....It may be real but my first impression is otherwise...IMHO..

That comment about most Nickey cars being ordered with A/C to get the good alternator and radiator was a new one for me. Though its nice to get all of the HD stuff, I hardly think it was worth ordering A/C and then getting that big box on the firewall and the extra ducts in the dash. Unless someone chimes in otherwise, I think that sounds far fetched. It strikes me as a sketchy car to feature, all the evidence sounds anecdotal.

Many, but not all of the Nickey Super Car conversions from later in 1967-1970 were either L78s or Z28s. Most also had factory 4 series posi.

1971-1973 SSs and Z28s were most prevalent.

1974-1977 Just about anything goes. Even 6 cly conversions.

I too would like to know where the A/C story came from. It certainly was not a common practice.

Hopefully both Don Swiatek and Ronnie Kaplan as well as a few other techs/ Nickey personnel and VIPs, will be at the Fall Vest Fest to answer questions and bench race with the patrons.

Hello... my Uncle owns this 68 Nickey that this article features.... its been in storage pretty much since they did the story...

I saw it today in storage and it looks the same, great condition....

How do you know if it is a REAL Nickey??

L78M22Rag 08-28-2020 07:40 AM

In storage??? That incredible car should be driven and enjoyed!

Thanks for posting the update. Hope your uncle takes you for a spin...

If your uncle hasn't tried for one yet, an NCRS report may provide clues including Dealer info the car was originally shipped to which is something that's become available since the mag article also thread last updated.
Best of luck, click here...

Unfortunately my uncle recently passed away....I wish i could take a ride and ask him some questions .....I am doing some research on it for my Aunt. To my knowledge he had no Nickey documents unless we haven't found them... He believed it to be a Nickey....

I have a copy of the title when he bought it, it was sold to the previous owner in 1985 and was a Illinois title...

I Will try the Chevymuscledocs app....

Thanks for the help guys....

By now you should be getting a bunch of PM's offering to buy it if a real Nickey...Don't be in a hurry.

Junkhauler 09-08-2020 09:26 PM

I got my info pack from chevymuscledocs

Production date was 5/22/1968

Original delivery dealer was dealer code 201 in Zone 11

The name of the dealer was Dick Fencl Chevrolet
Oak Park Illinois

Any thoughts on this info i got?

Mr70 09-08-2020 10:00 PM

Dick Fencl Chevrolet was a very well known Hi-po dealer around here.
Maybe a dealership swap to Nickey Chevrolet afterwards?
