HUGE wknd on Monterey Peninsula..where's everyone?
Car Crazy meets the Monterey Peninsula this weekend...Pebble Beach Concours de Elegance,Historic auto races @ Laguna Seca,Christies,RM,Russo & Steele auctions (I'm sure I left some out https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif),Concours d Italiano,the endless parties and events,etc,etc,etc.

Well...typical wild car crazy weekend in Monterey,ran all over the place and still didn't get to see half of it.
Favorite moment of the weekend had to be watching Ricardo Zonta absolutely SHATTER the course record at Laguna yesterday by almost a second and a half in the '06 Toyota F-1 car! 1:06 and change... I took a few pictures from the prior weekends pre-historics @ Laguna. If anyone is intersted I can try and post a few. It was a very informal laid back weekend and I spent more time drooling than taking actual pix...I think I got a few goods shots though.

Well I finished my car at 7 am Sunday morning .. put it on the trailer and hustled to Laguna . When we fired it at Laguna the engine had a moderate oil leak..easy fix . The gasket between the engine case and oil filter got kinked. Fortunatley the gasket , made out of cork, was ok and we buttoned it up and no leak...did two easy laps to get a little something on the brakes and when I tried to get into it the motor stumbled badly..another easy fix but the powers to be would not let me run the race..unreal ! Anyway the car turned out great and many people commented that it was the nicest looking 935 at the event.. personally I liked all the cars but it felt good to hear people talking positivley about the car.. not bad for a complete top to bottom restoration in 9 1/2 weeks.

Here it is on the track...didn't have time to strip the car properly or put all the sponsor decals on but am now working on it so the car will look as it did for the 1981 24 Hours of Daytona where the car finished 8th over all

The Camaro in the picture by the Edelbrock Racing trailer may be the car Don Yenko won the '69 Daytona Citrus 250 in. That car is in the Edelbrock collection.

Journey's new (new) lead singer left a bit to be desired as his voice gave out after about 5 songs. Their drummer, Dean Castronovo can sing, though and Jonathan Caine and Neil Schon "still have it". Def Leppard has still got it! Holly was in heaven after I pulled a few strings and got her into the front row! I went to a Def Leppard concert a few years back, they put on a good show. Their one-armed drummer is pretty amazing. Lots of good scenery in the audience as well.
