1969 Nova Wheels & Tires

I am thinking about getting a set of American Racing 15x7 TTO's for my 69 Nova. What size tires will fit on the front and rear without any clearance issues? thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Charlie, an F70 on the frt is about right although E70x14s were what came on SS novas. G60 is about as big as you can go on the back without clearance issues. The height difference in the size, 70 vrs 60 usually give the car a little frt end rake.

The back spacing on the rear wheels is important. You will need at least 4" back spacing. 4.5" is best. Then 25560R15 will clear. I run 21570R15 on the front. But 225 will fit if you prefer. Earl

Thanks for the replys. Earl are you using a 15x7 wheel with the 215x70's for the front? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I just put 215/14's in the front and 245/14's in the rear of our 1972 Nova SS.

The car is running on some original "CL" 14x7 wheels.

just so you know 215/70 on a 15x7 rim are to big on the front of a nova. Mine hit every so often should of gone with a 205/70x15 tire. I have 235/60 on the rear both front and rear rims have 4" back spacing.

Jason, can you post a side picture of your car? I would like to see how it looks with the tires you are running.

What I meant to say... not that it matters now anyhow... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

I'm running 215/70/14s in the front and 245/60/14s in the rear.

I am running 15x7 ralleys all around. No problems with 21570R15 BFG RTA on front. Backs are 25570R15. I needed the 29" height to fill some day two wheel wells. Earl

I am running 15x7 Torque thrusts on the 68 without any issues. The rear tires are 245/60 and the front are 215/65. I wanted the tire height to be about the same and that combo seemed to give me what I was looking for.

Nice, real nice, I havn't bothered you in a couple of days, and I get sheep. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif Charley, if your going to race, the M/T G60s will work pretty well, unless you're gonna get crazy and go with cheater slicks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif
Mr Howie, please check your mail for the new set of Gibson banjo strings I've sent you, so you can join in with your relation. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Tommy, great looking car. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Are you running the TTO's or the "D's"?

Tommy 07-20-2006 08:57 PM

Re: 1969 Nova Wheels & Tires

Those are the D's. They look nice but after seeing how the real thing looks, I wish I had some of the old ones. Schonye, thats A huge compliment, thanks.

Re: 1969 Nova Wheels & Tires

I got A pair of these the other day and put one on my 72 Nova to see how it would look. The tire is a very old Dunlop G 70 15. I think the wheel is A 7 or 8 inch but I can't find any markings on it to tell who made it or what size it is.

I am running wheel vintiques corvette rally wheels 15"x8", 4.5" backspacing with 235/60's on the back and 15"x4" with 195/75's on front. Fits really well on my '72 Nova SS.
