Cool local 69 Z
1 Attachment(s)
Thought you guys might like seeing these pics...I took the Deuce to a local cruise-in this past weekend and saw this cool mostly original X77 69 Z there... Found the owner, and learned that he's owned the car since 72, but has known the car since it rolled off the transporter at Rudy Haupt Chevrolet in downtown Johnstown back in late 69. I dig the 100% original red standard vinyl. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

That Red/Red is a killer color combo.
Thanks for the pictures https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: Cool local 69 Z
Was that a magazine car? Caught a glimpse of a mag. on the dash. Which magazine/edition.
Great looking car! Thanks, |
Re: Cool local 69 Z
Yes, it was in a magazine, but i don't recall what mag it was... i know it was OLD, like early 80's I think... Might have been Musclecar Review, but I'm not sure... I should have took note, but was too into looking at the car itself. The issue had a cool story on all the musclecars in Johnstown. Would like to have a copy myself! Next time i see the guy I'll find out for sure. -JB

Re: Cool local 69 Z
Thanks for the pictures Joe! IMO, any color combo looks great on 69 Camaro's, even 76/76 with yellow houndstooth. I love them all. Aside from a couple RPO differences, this Z reminds me of Charley's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
Out of curiosity, was your Deuce the only Supercar at this car show? If so, were you approached by people asking you what a Yenko Deuce Nova is, or what Yenko means? How about other shows you have attended? I am still convinced that alot of musclecar enthusiasts don't know the significance of these cars, know they exsist, or were even built. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Mr. T, i agree theres no "bad" color combo for a 69 Z if it's restored correctly, or is as original as this one. In fact, the "oddball" colors and combos are usually some of my favorites.
As for supercars at the cruise-in, no, there were no other supercars there, but there WERE some pretty cool/rare musclecars, including numerous real-deal Hemi mopars, and some nice classic corvettes. Yes, many people ask what a Yenko is, in fact, one guy said "Those Yenkos looked almost like Novas" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif While many don't know what the car is, I'm always happy to explain the Yenko legend to them, and enjoy all the questions I get. Canonsburg is only about 2 hours from here, so there ARE a few people who know some info about Yenko, at least enough to be dangerous. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif One of the most frequent comments I do hear is that it "Can't be real, because Yenko's were all big blocks" I agree the "masses" don't understand or know much about Yenko, or supercars in general, but then again I don't know a ton about Mopars, or Shelbys, etc... The knowledge of stuff comes with your own personal interest. On that note, here's a few other pics of some neat local cars that were also there, I really don't know too much about them, other than that they are cool. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Heres a badass black/red 69 GTX for starters: https://www.yenko.net/attachments/210408-ebay071.jpg |
