Another new "barn find" - '67 Z-28
Since there seems to be a lot of interest in "barn finds" lately, here's another one for you.
I found this car about a month ago and completed the purchase of it last week. It is another previously undiscovered '67 Z-28 that has been sitting in storage since 1987. The previous owner bought the car in 1981 from Dahmer Chevrolet in Independance, MO and drove the car for a few years until deciding to start a resto. Well, kids and a divorce got in the way and the car sat pretty much undisturbed for the past 19 years. It is a factory Tuxedo Black car that is nicely optioned with black deluxe interior, console, tach and gauges, fold-down back seat, all tinted glass, am/fm radio, rear speaker, rear defroster, style trim, and a 4.56 posi! As will see from the pics, it got the full day two treatment with chrome, Accel coil, traction bars, cowl hood, spoilers, Z-28 emblems, etc. The original block is out of the car for safe keeping and there is a fresh '68 302 short block in the car with the heads, distributor, intake etc. from the '67 motor on it. Tranny and rear are also original. The car should be here by mid-June and I'll complete the disassembly and then I think it is going down to PA for a little resto work https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif I am going to start researching the car's history shortly, but so far I know that it started out in the Topeka, Kansas area and was drag raced when new. Enjoy the pics... |

Re: Another new "barn find" - '67 Z-28
Thanks guys. Tony, the previous owner found me through my web site and had a few questions about the car. We began emailing back and forth and then spoke on the phone a few times before he mentioned that he was considering selling the car. We worked on the deal for about 2 weeks before we finally came an agreement and finalized the deal.
Pete, the original motor is an MO motor also and it came with the car. The 4L is there...trust me https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif |

Nice car Mark.
You seem to find most of the "barn find" 67 Z's... congrats... the time and effort that you have put into your "network" have paid many dividends (for you and others). |

Re: Another new "barn find" - '67 Z-28
I got some more history on the car and thought that I would post it here to see if it jogs anyone's memory...In 1976 the car was being driven to Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and was black with no stripes at the time. It developed a noisy rear axle and was sold to Scott P. Scott restored the car and showed it at the 1977 World of Wheels car show where it took best of show. He added the Cowl hood, spoilers, Z-28 emblems and chrome underhood. I spoke to the fellow who painted the car and he said it was absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately, Scott passed away and although his family has been great at trying to get me more info on the car, I am stuck at this point! Anyone remember the car????
As for the car, it is up here now and we are stripping it currently. It is scheduled to go into the bodyshop in November and should be back for final assembly in May or June. My son and I can't wait to get it back https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

Thanks guys. Yes Tim, Chris sent me some pics of his car and I have one as my screen saver at home https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif The neat thing about this car is the number of options that it has, which in addition to it being black makes it very desirable. I really hope it finds a good home https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif
