Last I heard you could book a flight on an F-14 for about $20k and/or an SU-37 for $11.5k, seriously!

Re: More Aircraft

Rick,I have a pretty good stomach for stuff like that, but I would probably do the passout thing also. Many hours of training condition a pilot for that kind of punishment to the body.My hats off to them.Still looks like alot of fun!!!

The Blue Angels are always exciting but so is Sean Tucker in his red biplane, seen here with the Blues. I've been to a lot of airshows in my life and Tucker's show-stopping aerobatics have got to be among the very best.

Re: More Aircraft

back in the day before the FAA started cracking down...they would fly between the two tallest buildings in downtown Seattle..I have great pics of the guys saluting us as they would go by, they would dog fight around the blds for fun...I have some really good pics somewhere...talk about get pumped up!!!

they dug or bld as it was on the outside of town and they would use it as a turning point to set up for a pass...

nothing like the smell of jet fuel, man they used to get really close to us like a 100yds, one cat came straight at us one time, keep in mind we are 63 stories up...at the last second he pulls up and goes straight up from us and I mean just about outa sight. reverses direction and comes back down and straight away from us, I swear he was on the exact trail up and down to the inch!!! and the jet wash was very strong you had to grab something or you were going down, now that guy could fly!!!

I think I am going this year as my buddy is Chief may be able to get some pics, but they dont fly by tight like they used to...

Slightly different pace. Empty 747-400 doing treetop (ok, a few hundred feet) passea at the Goodwood Historic Races to commemorate 100 yrs of Rolls-Royce. It's amazing how agile these big fellas are. Too bad they have to be flown like buses when we're on board.

If anyone has seen the footage of the first 707 test flights you will agree. The test pilot was fired for doing a barrel roll in one. This footage was seen on the cable series "Wings" several years ago. Who would think an airliner could do a slow roll.

Great shot Jeff!

Re: More Aircraft

Rick,

I did see that footage some years ago on wings as well.
Doing a barrel roll in a fighter is one thing, doing one
in a 707 is a hell of a lot trickier. BTW, if you goof,
you got nowhere to go but the scene of the crash. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Re: More Aircraft

This topic reminds me of something quite funny.

A few years ago, a guy bought some gov't surplus parts at
auction. When he took delivery, he realized that some of
the parts were for an SR-71 ( Blackbird ). He put them on
eBay and people started bidding. Well, somehow the gov't
found out about it and had the auction shut down. Next,
they went after the seller for selling classified material.

Well, the guy had a receipt from the auction, so the gov't
investigators couldn't do much in the way of prosecution.
He did loose the parts, but he was repaid. Seems the parts
weren't surplus afterall. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Did you know that Boeing was working on V/STOL capabilities
for the wide bodies? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Can't wait to land like that!

Serious cross wind. Looks like Peru or something.

Ngtflyr 06-28-2006 06:35 PM

Re: More Aircraft

It is at an airfield in South America, can't find the name right now though. It is very out of the way and it's where Boeing does their Crosswind testing. They don't want many witnesses if something goes wrong. Would not look good if their new baby was in a ball and then all over the news. The test pilots were earning their keep during these landings, imagine the pucker factor was pretty high.

Re: More Aircraft

Others have requested information in the past regarding booking a flight in a warbird or other aircraft. Some can be done in the driver's seat or just as a passenger. Here is one site with many links to that possibilty including the Mig-15 and Foxbat I had mentioned before. Worth every penny!

Fly a Warbird!

What to do? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Keep putting away $$ for the kids
college educations, or take $15,000 out for a MIG-29
flight. What to do! What to do..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif
