Jeff,
Cool...bring it by the shop, if you happen to buy it. Dan. |
Re: camaro info needed
dan..... i want to come by your shop everyday that im on the elgin ohare going from job site to job site but never have enough time to stop in for a while. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif now ill be in ottawa doing a super wal mart and wont be able to get over there for the next couple of weeks or so. the camaro was originally marina blue with blue interior and medium blue top. now it is silver with black interior and black top. i dont know what engine/trans combo it came with.the cowl says either L48 or L30 and either an M15 or M13 3 speed trans or M20 with the L48.it still has some sort of small block but have not been able to get any numbers off that yet.it has a 12 bolt rear with some sort of weird looking traction bar looking thing on it. kind of like a square tubular rod. never seen that before.it does have the rally sport package according to tag but i dont know what all that was supposed to come with.it has an RS emblem on the grill with the hideaways and an RS emblem on the front of the fenders.it also has a rear spoiler on the trunk lid but not sure if 67 cars came with them at all. i may post some pics when i can get back over there. THANKS again

Re: camaro info needed
Jeff,
That weird traction bar on the one side only is more than likely the original traction aide that was put on by Chevrolet! Do not throw it away... See if you can get some pics of it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: camaro info needed
i will not throw anything away. i just received an email from a guy who says that the car may very well be a 67 RS SS convertible car. i know very little about camaros but i guess all the signs are pointing that way. so if it is an RS SS then wouldnt it have came with the L48/M20? its got a 4P under all the trim info.

Re: camaro info needed
When you have a chance see if you can post pics of the trim tag and vin. You can also e-mail them to me and I will look them over for you. The trim tag option of 3L is for the RS option. The 4P can be both SS350 as well as an L30/M20 car. The L30 option is the 275hp 327. One of the notes for these is that they mroe often than not seem to have come down the line with a 12 bolt rear with a single passenger side traction arm. There are two types of these arms, the first early one is a round one and the second later one is a square one. These were installed to help control wheel hop that was a problem on these cars due to the shock mounting style (both on front side of axles). They corrected the problem for good in 68 when they went to the staggered shock system. In the absence of riginal paperwork I do not know of any way to tell the difference between the L30 and the SS. If the car does have the original engine though you will be able to tell by the stamping. The L30 engine will have a code ending with MK without smog and ML with. If it is an SS 350 car it will have MS for non smog and MT with. Thse four designations are for 3/4 speed cars only. I hope this helps.

Re: camaro info needed
There is a difference between the ss 350 (L48/M20) and the L30/M20 as to the location of where the speedometer cable exits the firewall. The ss 350 had a muncie 4 speed where the L30/M20 had a saginaw 4 speed. On the muncie equipped cars, the speedometer comes through the firewall between the steering column and the transmission tunnel. On an L30/M20, the speedometer cable will go through the firewall on the other side of the steering column. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: camaro info needed
03C = Built the Third week of March.
67-12467 = Standard Interior Convertible. NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio. 717 = Standard Blue Bucket Seats. Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests). F-4 = Lower Color is Marina Blue and the Convertible Top Color is Med. Blue. Options: 2B = (M11) 3-speed floor shifter 2G = (D55) Console front compartment 3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Package 4P = (L48) SS 350/L30 |
Re: camaro info needed
The 4P code only applies to the L30 when it is coupled with a 4 speed. Seeing that the car in question had a 3 speed transmission, it would be an SS 350 car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif
