I would say that one is worth a little less than this "original paint , original engine" Z...

Pretty cool car, for sure.

But if I can ask a question. Why start a thread asking what it's worth if it's not for sale? Just asking.

Because I don't want a flood of PM's or emails asking if the car is for sale.
The sale is being negotiated between 2 private individuals and I was asked to take a look at the car.
The description I recieved was fairly accurate with the exception of the missing original engine.
Had the DZ motor been there the deal would have been done.
We figure that the lack of the DZ kills the value by at least 10k the way the car sits now... I am just trying to put a fair value on the car.

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

I'll step up to the plate and give my 02. If the car was indeed a numbers car, without looking a conservative estimate 40K +/-. But since it looks like everthing is wrong under the hood I would say 25K is a good number.

Jeff H 05-05-2006 07:06 PM

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

Looks like a decent combination but original paint doesn't seem to add too much value in this case since it has a lot of rusty areas underneath and the engine and Z28 parts are gone. It's very tough to put a guesstimate on something like that without seeing the paint condition in person. But my point of view is that the car looks like it would still need to be restored to clean it up properly so original paint doesn't help. I'd agree with the $20-25K range.

427TJ 05-05-2006 08:42 PM

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

So how many PMs have you gotten trying to break up the deal? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Since it's an RS Endura with good colors inside and out (black/black), this car could go to $50K in a bidding situation.

Get a DZ engine off of eBay, add a repro X-ram and "JL8" brakes, and this could be another one of those crazy-money Zs you see at B-J. Well, "crazy money" today will probably look like a real deal in 10 more years.

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

All original paint, Z bars, original parts missing, and prettiness aside (I think I can actually smell the mustiness), what a cool day 2 look with the traction bars, and cool stickers. Doesn't get much better than a Tuxedo Black/RS Z. How 'bout a shot of the cowl tag?

firstgenaddict 05-05-2006 09:39 PM

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

I did not take one of the cowl tag... I looked at it and then just never even thought about it again.
Rest assured (I know ya'll won't) the cowl tag is legit and has never been touched, it is a:

711 10 10
04C X33

DWCamaro69 05-06-2006 07:32 AM

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

Well if you watch ebay you recently saw a restored Tuxedo RSZ but an LA car, color change, NOM go to $60K and not meet reserve. I would say this car would fetch $70K restored with a date correct DZ302 being that it is a 10 10 X33. So figure out resto costs backwards from $70k and its worth..... nothing...LOL... I would say it would bring $35K as is if it was put on ebay. Just my opinion and worth just what you all paid for it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Oh and if the person buying it backs out send the seller my e-mail: [email protected] https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

That RS Z in tuxedo black with the argent grill looks sooo nice when fresh . Highly desireable color that yo don't see often . That car even NOM is worth 25-30k .

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

If someone really took their time and cleaned everything by hand over the course of a few months or so, I think that the car could be very presentable. The car in clean, presentable condition would overcome much of the replacement engine loss of value. My theory is that if a car has it's original paint and interior in good condition, chances are that the car was pretty well cared for.

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

Here is the story as told by the current owner...
The car was bought by the owners father when it was 6 months old. The father passed in the mid 80's and his daughter got the car, it sat for a few years and then the grandfather asked to bring the car to his house (you following? Who's on first? ) and he bagan to drive it this was the early 90's. The car was then parked in the grandfather's basement in 1994 where is sat for the last 12 years. The Grandfather passed away and her uncle told her that the car was hers and to come get it. Which she did 2 weeks ago.

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

From the looks of the engine compartment and the traction aids, I'd have to say Granddad would have been a pretty interesting guy to hang out with.

A black RS/Z with what looks like good orig paint for $30k? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
I'd lean much more to the $50k neighborhood even without the orig engine. I think there are a couple of people here that would give that - present company included. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Well the car is sitting in the garage now...
Shupe (Redneck) was by in his lemans blue 68 Z almost before we could get the car off the rollback.
I was under the car and the tape is still on the subframe bushings... who wants pitures of what?????

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

More pics of anything would be cool but I am curious about things like what the paint condition is under all the dust, etc. It didn't look to bad. What are your plans for it?

firstgenaddict 05-13-2006 11:16 PM

Re: What is this 69 Original Paint Z28 Worth

The passenger front fender has been painted, and the passenger quarter has been painted from the breakline to the crest, but that is it.
A guy who worked for MacNiesh was here last night until after midnight going over it piece by piece, he thought that the originality was one of the biggest pluses for the car. The paint is of course checked, not too awfully bad, it will be more than presentable and we will probably just blow in a few places that are checked badly.

I tried to open a photobucket account it kicks me out everytime. I set my borwser to accept all cookies and then tried again... still won't let me.
I followed Xplant's instructions to the letter. Can anyone figure this out.
There is no error messages...it just boots me to the first registration page. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Hey James...That sounds weird? I know that sometimes when signing up they ask you if you're interested in visiting other sites...if you don't choose to/ or not to...it bumps you back. Look at the bottom of the registration page after you completely fill out your info...there's a link that says something like "No, I'm not interested...finish my registration"...It's really small...and you have to look for it.

Let me know if I can be of any help. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
