hemicuda ragtop race car
1 Attachment(s)
This car was hard to beat in 73 and 74. It won class at Indy both years and the whole SS title there in 73. It set a national record in the process of 11.09 @ 125.17 mph. Terry Earwood was the driver and Steve Bagwell the owner. They are both in the SE NHRA Hall Of Fame. They're helping me compile the illustrious history of this car. In 73 it never lost when running for class trophy. I'll try to post some pics. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/203...rwood00020.jpg

I'm not sure if this attachment can be read but one of the pictures shows Terry beating Bill Felker for the title and another shows him beating John Lingenfelter in the second round.

Yes, the car is a 70 model but was campaigned as a 71. The 71 sheetmetal was installed by 72 for sure. At that time it was owned by the Bowers brothers and running as a 71. I can only guess as to why. There may have been a weight advantage for the 71s. When the car was purchased by Factory Muscle out of Phoenix in about 90 it was still wearing the Bagwell paint. Pat chose to restore it to factory spec vs race.

Re: hemicuda ragtop race car
I was very fortunate to have seen this car in person along with all of Phil's,(most all) some real top shelf stuff. Phil's mind is a dictionary of knowledge. I have never seen someone know so much about so many different cars, and guess what, he can work on them too! I was fortunate enough to pluck one of his 67 "R" code Fairlanes, 427 side oiler with 17,000 miles, solid and ton's of NOS stuff. I don't think Phil likes too much aftermarket, at least on the Black Beauty he didn't. The only thing i am struggling with is the transistorized ignition, blown amplifier.Believe it or not the tachometer is part of the loop. May have to convert. What a wicked ride!
