Yenko YS # problems...........
I have Yenko Stinger Corvair # YS-100. I'm the third owner. I have met and spoken with the previous 2 owners. My car came from Yenko with the YS tag on the door pillar as YS-101. I have all papers from day 1, including the original order papers. The car is # 100 from papers and trim tag unique to the first 100 1966 Stingers. Suddenly a Stinger numbered # YS-101 appears on a list on the internet. Anyone knowing these Stingers , knows that #YS-101 does not need to be anything special.....it can be any Corvair with any trim tag. ???? My car came from Yenko with #YS-101 on it. The papers and trim tag CLEARLY show it is #YS-100. What to do about this situation. ?? I had the supposed #YS-101 owner getting ahold of me in the past.... trying to trade me a #YS-100 tag for a #YS-101 tag. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rick p.s. Also from inside sources from Yenko.........it was well known that Yenko did NOT have 100 Stingers when the SCCA came around counting heads on the 100 Stingers..........that Don did NOT have 100 Stingers and that they were switching YS tags and running them around the building to make it look like they had more than 100 Stingers. |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
PS : The people that all of you you think are on the up & up.............are not. It's all about the dollar baby!!!!!

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Rick,
Who are you referring to? |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
That really blows !!!
|
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
A little further background.....................I've owned this car since 1987, done alot of research since then, talked to people who worked for Yenko back then. When I did All this...........it was before self proclaimed Yenko experts knew anything about a Yenko Stinger Corvair.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
You are confusing us. Are you saying active members of this site are not on the up and up about the Yenko's ? The Stingers or all Yenko's ? People from somewhere else ? Help....
|
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Me naming names is not going to be constructive in this thread. If these people want to chime in... they know they are free to.
|
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Getting closer... I guess that means they are active members of this site.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
There are more cars with door tags that do not match paperwork. The people putting the tags in the doors were not concerned with matching them up. When six cars went out. Six tags went on. It happened on camaros as well. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif As long as you have documentation for your car. I would never give up the original tag for the right number. Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Thanks Earl!! What you said was my first thought years ago. It is the way my car left Yenkos shop. A person was trying to convince me that someone had originally lost my number 100 tag, and had replaced it with the number 101 tag. They were also trying to convince me that my car having the 101 tag on it casts a shadow, and doubt on my car. They said they would just leave the tag off, if it were them. This same person also told me that all of my documented racing history from 1966 thru 1972 added no value to the car. Shortly after these people couldn't buy my car......was when one comes up with the # 101 car. I guess he got the car with some kind of papers, but no tag on the car.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
That's a really good looking Corvair. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
Nice Homepage too. |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
I agree with Earl...that tag is from that car and thats where it belongs...so I guess someone made a YS 100 tag too ? The history on any car is extremely valuable...what a silly thing for someone to say...

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Who else is confused https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif If your car's paperwork say's it is 100 then why do you need 101 tag?
If it came from Yenko with 101 tag on it then why didn't it have 101 paperwork? I would think that if you had paperwork that proved what the car was, then that would outweigh what the car could be. |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Because his car came from Yenko with tag 101. A mistake from Yenko that I think is neat that nobody has tried to correct. My old 68 Yenko has tag # 8013 but on the vin list it is listed as #8012.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Charley,
Was that the blue '68 Yenko that Goldberg has? Did you ever drive it with that RamRod 4 shifter on the street? I'm trying to decide if to use a new one that I have for my '68 Camaro? Or maybe just put in a Comp. plus? |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Thanks for all of the input guys! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Yes that is the car. It had a Vertigate shifter. Worked great once you figured out how to use it.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Ed Cunneen, who heads the COPO Connection. is big into Stingers, maybe he can help you out. Possibly even issue a certificate with the right numbers or something.

Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Thanks Tom. Only thing I can say...... I don't do any business with Ed.
|
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
...I agree with keeping the tag that "came on your car"...
... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif ...as for Ed... I always had a lot of help from him and still think he has been a great contributor of information and knowledge for plenty of people who visit this site ...and I have had absolutely no problems with him https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ...but everyone has their own reasons and I am sorry you feel the way you do about him....and I'm not asking you to explain why you feel that way....good luck https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
Rick: if I were you, I would talk to Doerge...he's had a Stinger Registry for like forever...
|
Re: Yenko YS # problems...........
I would leave the situation 'as is', it's a lot easier to explain to people that Yenko made mistakes with the tags vs. trying to explain why you changed something to fix a Yenko mistake. That opens up a whole can of worms that doesn't do anyone any good. I would not remove something that Yenko installed just because they made a mistake, let Yenko's actions stand on their own - right or wrong.
