1972 RS Z28 Project car 427
That was a fun car for me Joe. I am glad it all worked out and it is in good hands. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
I bought Sixtiesmuscle's old Yenko tribute car. It is a LA built L78 documented with build sheet. Mulsanne blue with blue interior. Currently the car has an LS6 in it. In a way this car reminded me of John P's (Alss) 69 SS/RS ZL1 that I used to borrow. I wish I could have bought that one but I am sure this will suit me just fine. Sixties did a great job on the resto. The fact that it was once part of his collection was a big selling point. I don't have many pictures of the car yet. Still haven't had the chance to bring it home but it kept safely nearby. My intention is to drive it and have fun cause I don't want to be working on anything this summer. However, short term the strips will probably be coming off. Might add a couple of goodies I have been collecting. Long term I would like to get the correct L78 back in there. I have a few regular photos of the car that I could scan in. Here is a shot of the motor. Perhaps someone has a picture of the car saved somewhere. I will take more photos once I get it home. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7-4706_IMG.jpg |

Hey Rick Peters isn`t this the car you posted you were looking to buy? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif Dan. |
Re: X33 gets a brother.
Daren, I looked at that car when it was at Volo and considered buying it. I really thought it was a great car and very well done. I liked it the way it is, truly the way Yenko would have built a 1970 version of their car. I never saw the paperwork and was not able to secure it from the prior owner, but I always understood it was a real L78.
Great purchase, I am a BIG fan of that car...... |
Re: X33 gets a brother.
Nice score Darren! Does the original L78 come with the car, or will you need to track down a dated 396?
|
Re: X33 gets a brother.
Congrats on your new acquisition Darren. I loved that car ever since I first saw it and is a nice tribute. When do I get my ride???? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: X33 gets a brother.
Yes I have the buildsheet on the car and it is a real L78. I also have titles leading up to the original purchase. The original motor and trans are gone as is the case with many musclecars. But I have a correct L78 block that I will put back in eventually.
Again thanks for all the compliments. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif Rick we have to wait for the snow to go away. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif See you in a couple weeks. |
Re: X33 gets a brother.

Re: X33 gets a brother.
What started over a month ago is now finished. This car was brought to my attention by Stefano Bimbi. The month seemed like a year as I waited on the edge of my seat, I bit my nails till the deal was struck and I was in the car driving home this afternoon experiencing the awesome power. The wait was pretty nerve racking for me but Stefano kept me cool. My thanks to Stefano and the seller Jay Rutuli for their help, patience and friendship during this transaction. Keep in mind these guys have brought back a Chicago legend.
Here are more pics. The interior shot came out horrible. Need a new camera now. I'll try to get one tomorrow. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...7-4730_IMG.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...7-4731_IMG.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...7-4732_IMG.jpg |

Re: X33 gets a brother.
Hey Darren, thanks for stopping by with it yesterday what a cool car I think I would leave it just the way it is for a while and just enjoy it. Its almost time for Darrens 2nd anual birthday cruise. I think there will be a lot of blue cars at the cruise this year. The car couldnt of ended up in better hands.

Re: X33 gets a brother.
Daren, I'd leave it the way it is and have fun. The car is really first class.

Re: X33 gets a brother.
It's on there. My Father's DC 309 plate from 1970. Both cars have them in front now. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Can't buy anymore cars cause one 69 and the one 70 plate are the only years I have.

Re: X33 gets a brother.

Re: X33 gets a brother.
Can't beat belted redlines and Torq Thrusts! Gotta' love 2nd-Gen big-block cars too. I want one!
(Hint: I'll bet those rear tires will smoke with ease, especially if there's a digi camera to capture the moment.) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif x 1,000 |
Re: X33 gets a brother.
That car could certainly use some wide & stickey rubber.
Congrats! |
