Waysneville MO
Anybody from that part of the state? My dad served at Fort Leonard Wood in 1941-42. He likes taking pictures, so I thought I'd share these two.

Still there, located in the Waynesville/St. Robert area. A couple of hours West of St. Louis on I-44. Within a couple of hours of here as well.

Re: Waysneville MO
Dennis Davis, the member with the Maroon '65 396/425 Belair that was a "Members Ride" a few weeks ago, asked me to post this for him. The station belonged to a family member, and the picture was taken in 1942.
The building is in Westerville, OH. (NE Columbus) and is still there today. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...5/scan0005.jpg |

Most people only know me as an accountant, and are quite surprised when they learn of my car hobby. Well, it's in the genes https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Here is a pic of my grandfather in front of his wheel alignment shop, my uncle is the little guy! My father worked in the shop when he was old enough, and through his college years. I never really met my grandfather, so I sort of hang onto this pic https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
BTW: Pic was taken in Valley View, PA - just a wide spot in the road - on Oct. 15, 1951. |

Yea - I got some more height from my Mom's side (her bro was 6'4"), but I resemble the guy in the pic - just haven't lost my hairline yet https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Waysneville MO
Great pics! . I think a lot of us are old gas station lovers so keep 'em comin'! . Is the first pic a '35 or '36 Ford? .
Marlin....are you really Dutch or just funnin'? . My best pal is wood-shoe and hates the jokes. . Cool pic of the family shop! Jeff....did you see the 68 'Velle post drag project on eBay right now....cheap but sorry, no door panels. ~ Pete |
Re: Waysneville MO
PA Dutch - aka, from DeutchLand, aka from Germany! PA Dutch have their own language/dialect, much like the Cajun's from New Awlins!
I've been to the western shore Michigan for a little vaca after a pure stock event at Stanton - saw enough wooden shoes, windmills, and blue-inked pottery to last me a lifetime https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
