What would you buy?
What would you buy if you wanted to get into the collector car hobby but only had $25-26,000 to spend? Don't have the resources to purchase a project car and restore it so a "fixer-upper" is out of the question.
I'm not really looking for the "buy what you like" replies; consider this a poll and not a question for a specific person. Look at it as if you had 25-26,000 to spend and needed it to be driver quality at least. |
Re: What would you buy?
1970 Z28
1969 SS350 |
Re: What would you buy?
Can you get a decent 1970 Z28 for that kind of money? I thought they were going for $30-40,000 now?

Re: What would you buy?
YOU CAN BUY SOME 66-67 CHEVELLE SS CARS IN THE $25-30K RANGE. 69 SS350 CAMARO WOULD BE NICE IF YOU CAN FIND ONE. 70-73 Z/28'S ARE STILL OUT THERE AS WELL... GOOD LUCK.. KP https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: What would you buy?
How about some early 70's SS camaros. Novas from 68 to 72 are a nice car also. Maybe a 74 Z/28. How about some big cars like 65-69 Impalas or Belairs with 4 speeds? Chevelles are always a favorite. I am sure you can find some nice GTO's for that money also. Go to the A.C. show this month.

Re: What would you buy?
Look at AMC. The AMX 390, 4 speeds are still affordable, and somewhat offbeat.

Re: What would you buy?
1969 1970 Nova SS 396 4spd. No replacement for displacement. If you have just one old car. Make it a big block chevy. Earl

Re: What would you buy?
You should be able to land a decent big block El camino, or 55-57 Chevrolet Hard top...
|
Re: What would you buy?
How about a 78 Bandit or Gold edition Trans Am, 4 speed car of course. You can find a low mileage, original paint car for that kind of money and have a nice car to boot. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: What would you buy?
I agree. When I get that kind of money I'd like a 396 BigBlock late 60's Bel Air.
|
Re: What would you buy?
good choice... 66-69 big block 2 door biscayne/bel air.
4 speed of course. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |

71-72 Camaro SS big block 68 SS Chevelle 65 SS Malibu 4-speed 70-72 Nova SS small block https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: What would you buy?
For thirty I would find a #'s matching Buick GS 455 Stage 1, 4-speed car. Not doubt about it! Patrick

Re: What would you buy?
Black 67 RS Z28 with red interior, cowl plenum, headers, 4:88 gears, bench seat, metallic brakes. That would do it for me.
|
Re: What would you buy?
For $25,900 I don't think you can go wrong with this, 1967 RS/SS 350
|
Re: What would you buy?
I like that car but I'll pass seeing as how my driver car is a black-on-red RS/SS 350 local survivor, original paint, one old lady owner, 55K miles, so original it hurts.

Re: What would you buy?
70' Vette, LS5 or LT1.
70' Torino 429 SCJ or CJ. You won't find any #1 cars for 25K, but there are some nice #2-3 cars out there still. |

I searched the words "426 hemi" and that came up, apparently he wants to trade for a cuda or hemi stuff. Run, don't walk! Re: What would you buy?
I'd go with any 71-74 AMX Javelin 360 or 401, they can still be had for cheap and the value of those cars are going up a lot faster than I thought they would, considering the car hobby's love for AMC's. Another would be an SC/360 Hornet 4spd car. The real nice ones are going for around 17,000. If and I mean if you can find one. They only made 784 of them or so.
