Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
I just asked him to post a picture of the POP and imprint from the booklet. Also to post picture of the cowl tag, and if it still had the original trans and rear. Well see what happens. Gotta love triple black.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Wilma, sent you a PM with a few questions to get your advice on this. Thanks,Rich.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
From the what it's worth department...I have a 70 th400 L78 Nova that has an earlier VIN # but later date on engine stamp. My car is a 3rd of Jan with a 12/18/69 engine stamp. This car has a 11/01/69 engine date with feb rear stamp and trans with late dec date...??? maybe I have the #'s confused, but it seems a little strange. Would like to see cowl tag..I also have build sheet to confirm VIN with body #..maybe Greg can sort out the numbers..

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
POP looks OK, but what is that stuff in the rivet holes on the cowl tag?? I just went out and checked one of my 70 cars and it doesn't look like that...maybe it's just me???

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Looks like a small block front core support. The radiator cover is from a 6cyl car. The heater box looks like a home made modification. Earl

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Didnt mean for you to look at it better just that its a better pic since i reversed it to be able to be read
|
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
I think the dum dum in the rivet holes is ok, but agree with Earl on the rest. Hard to judge those holes. I've seen some with gobs of that stuff, and some with hardly any.
|
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
The dum-dum is correct, the 6cyl stuff is probably a quick install when the 454 went in. I personally think it's a steal at the buy it now price!

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Marlin, I dont know the novas like vettes and camaros does it look legit because I will hit the buy it now . Thanks Rich.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
I don't want to spend your money, but from what I saw in the ebay pics - along with the paperwork - and triple black to boot, I think it's a good deal. Just the fact that it won't need PA sheetmetal-replacement is a major plus!
I would ask for a pic of the vin to make sure it matches the POP, a pic of the core support to make sure it's a BB (they are hard to find and expensive), and if it matches up..... |
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Thanks marlin.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
- Note the auction states front sheet metal has been changed and I wonder if the whole front nose was changed including rad support? . Then the thought would be why and did it include replacement of the subframe too? . A triple black L78 and bench w/ column shift....ooooh baby! . Good luck Rich!!! ~ Pete

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Sent you a pm as well with some more positives. For reference, I've passed on a BB Novas that had no original drivetrain left, and no paperwork in the $4-6k range. ( I eventually bought one of course https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif, but it was a really good deal https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif )

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
I figured the front end sheetmetal was damaged, which is why I suggest a pic of the core support. If the sub was swapped out, it's not too big of a deal - provided the BB engine mounts were retained. I think the auction questions state that it was not in an accident, but...
Also states the original SS hood is there, should have the little brackets underneath for the grilles. Doesn't really matter that it's dented, as long as those little brackets are there - they can be installed onto a nice non-SS hood. Heck, even if they are missing I think the repros are spot-on per Schoneye! |

'69 deluxe interiors have the parchment on the door panels, the '70 version has the wood grain - so this car appears to have the correct ones.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
While this L-78 Nova is fresh on everyones minds. There is still a ###'s 69 close by to my house/shop, same owner since 1970 everything correct less exhaust manifolds. has POP and other papers Red 4 speed car needing 1/4's etc from sitting. I know it's a vague question but what's the range on these cars???

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay

Got a pair of original brackets sitting right in front of me to compare with. |
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
can u post a pic of what they look like on the car???
|
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Yea, the first version of the repops were substandard, but the current version https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Hello Scott.......
Look at the top of this photo. You can see the bracket (only one in photo) toward the rear of the hood. Forgive my engine bay, gathering parts to "fix it". ktownkid http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...id/motor22.jpg |

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
Typical Ebay joke, you can buy the same bracket from Car Parts Discount (888 437-4272) off the shelf for $15.95.

Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
The newer repops for the SS hood brackets are pretty good, but if the old ones are still on the hood, spend a little time and cut them out.
You can make a pretty good BB radiator support from a goodmark repop. Having a friend with a layout table, and computer programable plasma cutter helps. |
Re: '70 Nova L78 on Ebay
5 hours to go. I am surprised no one hit the "buy it now" button. Something really wrong with this car?
I am not a buyer, just curious. Lynn |
