Ray Allen LS6

Thought some of you may enjoy seeing what it look like being at ground Zero when the Ray Allen LS6 went across the block. The crowd was out-of-control.

Terrific shots Bruce. Thanks. Boy that hood fit could use some adjustment!

Back than you raised the hood to let the hot air out. And you would gain 3-7 Hp. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I like how the hood and doors line up for a million dollar car

Re: Ray Allen LS6

Then you might really like the frame and under hood detailing as well.........

I wish on a car of this magnitude that a little more time and care had been taken to restore it correctly. I could not sleep at night if I restored this car and did not make it perfect. Too much history and exposure to cut corners. jmo

Re: Ray Allen LS6

They were far from perfect when they rolled out the door. The restorations we mostly see now are nowhere near how they really were....this car probably had its share of twisting done on it whith the launches !! I doubt the buyer was looking for a perfect restoration but instead looking for the history that this car screams...don't you guys think it would look kind of weird being a perfect restoration ?

Re: Ray Allen LS6

Ray Allen started the resto. Do you think he is a resto expert ? Chip finished it in a hurry to make the auction. How many have worked till the 12th hour to meet a deadline. How many relied on a painter to get something done when absolutely promised ? I'm sure if Chip had a few more weeks he would have gotten the sheetmetal lined up better. NBow take it out, drag race the crap out of it for a few years and it will look perfect.

Re: Ray Allen LS6

It was not my intent to slam the people that restored the car and was only commenting that I thought the car deserved better due to it's history. Mike G's Jenkins car is a perfect example. I seriously doubt that car looked that good when it was raced but it is a work of art now.

I have never been a source for controversy but need to just learn to just keep my mouth shut.

Don't need to keep your mouth shut Rick. Call them as you see them. This is still a free country! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: Ray Allen LS6

I didn't think you were slamming. I was just giving my opinion.

Re: Ray Allen LS6

Rick, your post wasn't slamming at all IMO. I'm with you, good panel fit should be there on a million dollar RESTORED car. Even though it looks more as an authentic racer I would still like it lined up better. Cool car.
Kinda like new breasts, lot of miles but get em straight when refilled!!

I didn't think you were slamming it either Rick...

Re: Ray Allen LS6

The engine and trans was blown years ago. The interior was lost after the first week of racing, and all the sheet metal had been replaced.
I hope the history was what the buyer was after. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Charley Lillard 02-14-2006 08:15 AM

Re: Ray Allen LS6

If the car would have been put up for sale just as it was when drag raced I'm sure there would also be a bunch of people saying "Too Bad they didn't fix it up" or "Too bad they didn't restore it back to stock". The other car that was stock sold for much less so it is obvious that the car was sold based on it's history.
