I think a very safe answer to that question is NO!
from every piece of documentation I can get my hands on, there was no LS-6 offered in Monte Carlos in 70.
It was however an available option in 71, although no one to my knowlege has ever produced any document to prove that one of those exists either.
The closest I've seen/heard of is one Dick Harrell converted SS454 Monte to an LS6.
take a look here

I have yet to see an authentic documented 1970 Monte Carlo LS-6 built from the Factory. If at least one was produced,it would've appeared in some form by now.Regardless of what some parts books say,it never came to fruition.

notice the A/C compressor on the Monte referenced in the article??
Wasn't A/C not available on solid lifter cars??
Could it be a one-off deep groove A/C pulley?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

There were no LS-6 Montes Factory Built, of course that's not to say someone didn't do it at a dealership, or a COPO might have slipped through, but you would need an original buildsheet to prove it's existance. LS-4 was the Monte SS as far as I know, and according to the "Standard Catalog of Chevrolet". Also, dealer order books from 70 show only the LS-4 availble as a standard factory option in full size Chevy's. Some LS-5's were done, but all would have been a COPO. Special Order. All that said, any 454 Monte, Impala or Caprice is a car well worth owning.
All that being said, I have attached a Pic of my LS-5 engine, in my Full Size Chevy Wagon. And, yes, I do have the build sheet with it listed.
Let's keep them BIG Cars rolling !

"Some LS-5's were done, but all would have been a COPO. Special Order."

Not true.
The only engine you could get in a 1970 Super Sport Monte Carlo was the LS-5 454/360HP.They produced 3823 of them for regular customers.
The LS-5 was a real RPO from the Factory for Corvettes-Chevelles-M/C-Big Passenger & Wagons.
Chevrolet never produced a 1970 Monte Carlo LS-6 or Convertible as a Regular Production Option.

hum it would have been cool if they had made it.
i wonder if you could take the convert top from the impala and re- work it to the mote that would be one of a kind. lol still think there has to be a at least 1 LS6 monte some were out there ?

Re: 1970 Monte Carlo INFO -_ LS6_-_

This has actually been done by a friend of mine. He simply took a Chevelle convertible and transfered all the body parts from a Monte Carlo onto it including the firewall. A cowl induction hood was fabricated using an original Chevelle hood and grafted that onto the Monte hood. It was actually quite a simple transformation (all things considered) and turned out beautifully. This car was sold at BJ about 5 years ago, red with an LS-6. So there goes the "no Monte convert and/or LS-6 Monte" theory. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Thats the car though it had a real LS-6 NOT an LS-5. The car was also featured in Chevy High Performance as well.
