Is it a Baldwin

Hey Guys Big Question
I have made what i think is a big find. a 67 camaro original 8 cylinder coupe car VIN 124377N*******. Its in pretty rough shape, but it does have a red, white, and blue paint job with a long pointed stripe on the side of both quarters extending forward mid of the doors. and it has an extra set of holes drilled in the rear panel, it looks like maybe a motion emblem was once located there. any help would greatly be appreciated.

A 67 will tell you what motor it came with on the trim tag. What hood is on it? Does it have any suspension modifications? Extra gauges? Signs of side pipes? Where did you find the car? Post pictures and that would be a big help. What are you intentions with the car?
I hope for you it is that would be great.
Rich.

the dog house is totally gone along with interior, the car has been setting in the weeds for years. the rear suspension is what appears to be just normal leaf springs and shocks.

I will be working on the pictures in a few days, i dont have a digital camera myself. I am kinda new to the camaro business, GM for life but never the camaro. After reading about the rare motion cars i spiked my interest. i remembered seeing the ugly paint job on this car a long time ago and just went to see if it was still there. sure enough it was and i bought it.

All 67 had Mono leaf springs and non staggered shocks... does it have a traction bar all SS, Z28's, and L30 4 spd cars?
Also remeber even if it had a small bloack originally or a 325 HP 396 that does not mean that it is not a Motion car. Joel used all kinds of different cars.
Run a National Insurance Crime Report on it (if you can) and see where it was sold new.

That's a good guestion Bob. The two things mentioned were the paint and holes for a rear emblem that is missing. The '67's, 68's and most of the '69's did not have Motion emblems and the Motion emblems were attached with double stick tape, so there would not be any holes. The other thing was the paint scheme which is vaugely similar to some of the '70's paint styles. Neither of these give any indication of a Motion car and in fact the opposite. So we have a rusted out 8 cylinder '67 sitting in a field and it might be a Motion?? I always follow up on leads, but this one looks does not even seem promising to start.

Just to at fuel to the fire... more evidence against the car is the location. Not many Motion cars ventured far past the East Coast...

'cept the two that were done for the prince of the Chiawawa (sp?) province of Mexico https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif The Motion cars were done for a variety of folks, who had money but lacked the talent or knowledge - per locals around the N.East. Several were bought by football players, etc...

Rich, absolutely no offense indended, but I just had to laugh when I read that. Starting to treat special cars as if they were our daughters, aren't we?

Reminded me of the document I had a few years ago entitled "Application for Permission to Date My Daughter". First two guys that wanted to take my daughter out, had to come to the house and fill it out. Will try and dig it up so I can post it. Good for a laugh.

Although I am still not sure exactly what the car is, yea i guess could sell it, hell the queen of england has a price. what is it worth?

Re: Is it a Baldwin

A rusted out 67 ain't worth much ...unless something iron clad pops up indicating it was done from Baldwin/Motion or something similar.

My 67 had extra holes in the tail panel as well. The 2 holes left of the filler was the dealership metal badge and the 2 to the right was the old AAA metal badge. Of course I filled them all in when I restored the car.

Motion?? Doubt it. From the sounds of it it would probably make an interesting flower planter.

Re: Is it a Baldwin

Shouldn't he look for things like mounting for an electric fuel pump? I know that's not a definite indicator for a Motion car but I though Joel usually put one in so if there is none then it's probably not a Motion. Sounds like you would need to find some really strong indicators to even hope it's a motion car.
