Re: Camaro Concept Video
That's an improvement over them the pictures I saw.

Re: Camaro Concept Video
I have 1 word to explain my feelings IF this is the new Camaro....
Challenger! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I actually love the looks, except for the rear, which would take some getting use to. I do see some similarities of the new Charger incorporated into this Concept Camaro.
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
with 400HP...if they can bring it in under 3,500# and $35,000...it'll sell.
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
Dont care for WIDE grill look.........maybe it would grow on me??????
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
Very nice.I think they just about have it right. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif I like the round wheel wells.

Re: Camaro Concept Video
Not retro enuff. GM (i.e. GTO) still doesn't get it. It doesn't need to look like a Gen I just take stronger cues from it. This is not rocket science. Ford and Chrysler can do it. Now just jump on board!

Re: Camaro Concept Video
They just dont get it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif
What is Chevy's problem with reaching back and showcasing their own heritage through an updated (like the Challenger) design? They have this misguided view that the term "retro" is a dirty word. They are sorely misguided. This concept is too edgy, not a flowing graceful design like the 1st or 2nd generation cars. The grill has no resemblance to a Camaro, and that is the major problem. The soul of a muscle car is its nose: revise the front end with the grill of a 69 Rally Sport and you will have changed the whole car's demeaner for the better. Chevy is too busy trying to copy a "corporate" design theme like Dodge does with its cross hair grills. This car's grill looks like the 2001-2005 Impala - the one they just stopped building last year. If I was to give it a grade, it would be C+ with the Challenger getting an A- and the Mustang getting a B+. Looks like the wife will be getting a Challenger in a couple of years. |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
Under 35K??? If thats the target price GM might as well put the tarp over it and drag it off to the show car warehouse, or the crusher right now. Better plan on knocking at least 10K off that target price to sell enough to justify building them.
Oh R&T changed the link so it's NG anymore Heres a picture: http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/i...2006144750.jpg |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
What am I doing wrong? I can't get there! All I see is a Mercedes.

Re: Camaro Concept Video

Steve, have you heard of the different motor combinations that may go into the car? JQ. [/ QUOTE ] No, I really haven't...but if they put 400HP under the hood without help...I'd think with good exhaust system and under hood bolt-on blower, guys will be modifying it to make 500+ HP for under $5-6,000 extra. |

Re: Camaro Concept Video
Not good. If that is the best GM can do.... don't bother! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Re: Camaro Concept Video
I'd go for 30% cost of living raise in 3 years too!
I never bought/shopped for one, but I thought the 2002 Z28 Camaros were priced around $30K https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I think it's pretty cool looking...

Re: Camaro Concept Video
Just showed the photos to our "in-house" Camaro manager, and the verdict is https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif Karen and I both feel that the answer is simple: just make it look like a modern version of the 69 RS/SS and it will be a slam dunk. Chevy wouldn't be able to build them fast enough!! Why does something so simple have to be so complicated...don't these factory bozos listen to what the public is crying out for??
Well, maybe they will regoup and go back to the drawing board...we will wait and see. wilma https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I agree build them like the 69 and il buy one ,not sure on this design,i think its ok.. But when i see the new challenger it rocks ..sure wish gm could do the same ...
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
"....without being retro....." There, they said it in the video. Retro IS a bad word w/ GM!
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I hope they just make it, so you think of the old days, and see some things that are very much alike.. Retro is fine, but for example what is Ford to do after they have made this beautiful mustang and want to change style, go retro with 74- UP?? that will be a hit..
Think new, think out of the box, make somthing that clearly is a camaro, but something new... Thats my opinion.. NEW |

Why can't I get this link to open?
Every time I click the link it takes me to a R&T default page. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif I even tried copying/pasting the link, same thing. |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
Who will be the first Chevy dealer to offer a "dealer installed" ZO6 505 HP motor ????? AND WARRANY IT.
|
Re: Camaro Concept Video
They need to make the grill opening wider and lessen the front V effect. The roof line looks great. Charley. can i come out of the corner yet? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif Roger

Re: Camaro Concept Video
Sooo lets see, what can I buy now for aroung 35,000.00 and make money in 5 years when the average person will pay this new Camaro off??
1969 Camaro RS SS ? nice Chevelle SS ? and on and on.. |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I just cant fugure it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
You'd think GM would be listening to the chatter in the websites like this and get a clue as to get there feet out of the mud and get on it! I have been watching FIRD and Dudge get great results in the design appearances, and wonder just who is it that is not understanding all of this over there at GM! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Has there ever been any GM corporate people here cruising the site offering answers to us all as to why they are just soooo behind in ALL of this??? If they would listen to us all and take the steps we suggest, then we wouldnt be hammering them in print so often... My "HeartBeat" has faded in the past 20 years on a majority of the current releases given... One day maybe we will get back what we all desire from them! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |

Re: Camaro Concept Video
I think R&T jumped the gun, as the text in the original link said something to the effect of "the 2009 Camaro Concept seen recently at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show". Someone got their a$$ chewed I'm sure, and the page is gone
BUT; Someone else grabbed it, and now it's here: mms://c9o.earthcache.net/woc-01.medi..._camaro_hi.wmv |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
For being a new car it looks cool. I think the problem is that because of the "Camaro" name everyone is expecting to see a retro car to the first gens. I guess that GM should have followed suit with Fords & Dodges retro throwback. I personally think that the Challenger blows away the Mustang as far as the cool factor goes.

the challenger still has my vote, its more musclecar looking, the dodge boys got it right this time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: Camaro Concept Video
Okay so the Camaro concept doesn't look like a true "retro" car........so what. Did the 4th generation Camaro look at all like a 1969 Camaro? No but we all embraced that car and mourned it's passing. Personally, if they build this concept as shown I'll be the first in line because I can see the styling cues from othe Camaros. I'd much rather have a car produced that shares some of the heritage of it's past without copying it to a tee.
Who can't see the similarity in the grille to a 1969? Or the trim in front of the rear wheels, similar to the 1969? The cowl induction hood or even the similarity in the tail lights to a 1968 RS? I for one like the concept and, while it doesn't look as much like a 1969 Camaro as some would have hoped, I applaud GM for proposing a beautiful car that incorporates styling cues from the past with all of the latest performance enhancements. |
Re: Camaro Concept Video
I'm gonna voice my opinion also. I hate it. Looks too much like a Chrysler Crossfire to me. I would buy a new Mustang GT or the new Challenger (concept?) before I would buy this.
