value
Any expert opinions on the value difference between a 1967 converted 427 vs non converted 396 Yenko camaro?
|
Re: value
A very good question. Howie and I have discussed this at length. No non-converted cars have sold that we know of, so this should set the mark.
Having solid docs ought to help. |
Re: value
So until recently have all owners of these cars assumed they were all converted, and are some cars with 427 in them when they should have 396??
Second question, if you put a 427 in a non converted car, would it be frowned on by the experts? |

Re: value
Ok, forget the experts. How about a Yenko camaro that should have a 396 but has a 427, any big deal or not?
|
Re: value
With nothing in the paperwork indicating a 427, I would say a big deal.
|
Re: value
Thanks, do you think the value of a 396 car is less than a 427 car?

If it is a real Yenko with a non issued 427 and "NO DOCS" like BBBenny would say...take it anyway. We can fabricate a great story! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |

Re: value
A 396 camaro sold at yenko with add on parts and no 427 conversion. Price difference yes, how much?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif The paperwork helps though, alot better than a made up story on ebay to sell a car. I think the engine conversion is why people like motion, yenko, nickey, dana. But an unconverted 67 yenko with paperwork has to be rare. Roger

Re: value
Is the car a 396 car based on the trim tag showing the 4N or 4K? So you're saying it's a 67 SS396 Camaro that was sold by Yenko Chevrolet. I would think that is nothing close to the value of a 67 Yenko Camaro that had a 427 conversion done by Yenko. I would call the 427 Yenko Camaro a supercar but not the regular SS396 Camaro. But we all know putting a value on a car is up to the buyers. Take it to BJ and you'll probably get $200K just by using the Yenko name! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: value
Jeff, This car went thru Yenko Span not the Yenko dealership. The car has a stock # 742 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: value
Kim, good talking to you yesterday. Is the Registry list on the site updated, I know your car is a new find, I don't see your car on the list, or am I missing something. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: value
Kim it's only worth.....$245.39....and that just happens to what I have in my pocket. Besides that its probally the wrong color. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif

Re: value
Isn't Tom Billigens car an unconverted 68 Yenko?
|
Re: value
That's been my understanding of Tom's car. Very nice looking car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
|
Re: value
I thought so. I am sure you will not get that car cheap. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Conversion or no conversion. If my 69 Z was bought from Baldwin Chevrolet and super tuned by say Bill Mitchell at Motion Performance has to be worth something for that. There is NO conversions but a Motion Performance car by any standards. Maybe Motion installed a set of headers and traction bars. No conversion but you ain't getting it to cheap. She has some history. So where do you draw the line? Or does the insanity never end?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: value
Tom Billigen has one of the nicest restored 1968 Camaro's I have ever seen. IMO.
It's entire prominence is second to none. |
Re: value
No Sam, the sanity will not end. Just wait until BJ in a couple of weeks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif Putting a value on a car or parts is a tough subject because just when you say "there's no way that is worth $xxxx.xx", somebody steps up to the plate and buys it for that. Then, when you add the well know hi-po dealers into the mix the demand goes up quickly. So I personally don't like to put a value on anything. I think Kim will have no problem selling his car. I just hope my car is worth 200,000 McChicken sandwiches when it's all done! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

It will be worth more than that Jeff because I know the guy who is restoring it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: value
Yes, Toms car is very nice, done by CPR and its listed with docs from Ed C at the copo connection as an uncoverted copo that was ordered for the yenko conversion, but not coverted. It is one of last 6 cars that was order under special order for YENKO - planned to be converted. Todate -Toms car and my car are the only 2 of the 6 that are know to exist that have the copo parts installed (sway bar, 140 speedo and MV engine) without the Yenko engine conversion. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: value
Ed,I think my car is same. Did you get my PM
|
Re: value
Kim, Ed, What made Yenko stop with the engine exchange? Did they figure they couldn't sell it because of the extra cost at tht time or maybe the customer said leave the 396 in it its ok with me? Looks like they did everything else and then ...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif? In my opinion the 427 wasn't much faster if it was at all. Thanks, Sam
|
Re: value
Sam,I think it got too late in the year, and in my case the 68 were already being sent to dealers. My car wasn't sold until 8-67 and Yenko still Had 9 other 67 Super cars in inventory. I think the same on the 68's, plus Don knew the 69's were coming with the 427 installed already. IMO whatever that's worth.

Re: value
Are there any unconverted 1969 Yenko Camaros around?
|
Re: value
Dan,
The '69 Yenko Camaros weren't conversions. They were factory COPOs. You could however, in a unique situation, have a converted COPO. |
Re: value
|
Re: value
Agree with Kim, it seems that the cars arrived so late in the 68 yr and they were sitting on the lot waiting for conversion, then the 69's were right behind them already coverted at the factory, so they put the last 6 non coverted up for sale "as is"...instead of wasting money to convert them ...this is opinion based on the knowledge of the people on this and others sites. makes sense...i believe there is a yenko newpaper article in aug of 68 that has toms and my car for sale plus some of the other copo's with the stock engine (396/375hp in them - meaning they were pushing them to sale uncoverted. My car, as documented by the original owner - had the yenko tach and gaugues installed when they picked up the car...so it was almost ready to have the engine swapped - but never did.
