Excuse me but isn't the VIN indicate that this vehicle was produced in CANADA! COPO sleighs available on E-Bay next week! LOL.

Look a little closer at the VIN listed, I think that's a lower case L, not a number one.

I see the seller is already answering his share of stupid questions/comments https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

When did they start using a lower case L? LA build sheets use UPPER CASE L. COPO sleighs are available now.

My guess is that it's just a typo on the listing, but since there's no pic of the VIN, it's only a guess https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Green mist is not my favorite color, but with the white top/stripes/interior, I have to agree, it does look nice.

Not my intent to critisize the car, I just want continuing education......1) 70 A.I.R./Smog System 297 Big Block Divertor Valve should have paper sticker GH (agreed??) 2) Majority of 70' Big Blocks (Cam,Chevelle,Nova) that are restored with A.I.R./Smog have the drivers side tree/smog tubes that come around front of valve cover, ala 69. This cars engine has one that matches 70 CAMARO assy manual, with 992 Check Valve close to center of valve cover. Could YOU please comment/or Email me your thinking......

Colin,

Didn't I tell you about the other one. Build sheet, original bill of sale, M22, 4:10. Comes with complementary window crank and seat back as well!!!

The car is a Canadian car, so if you loose everything, you call up GM Canada (George) and for $45 bucks you get paperwork from GM documenting it as an LS6 convert.

Does anyone know of another Canadian delivered convertible?

You can phone the number on the bill of sale and the original owner still answers the phone, kinda cool.

Yak at ya tomorrow.

Ed,

I've heard numbers as high as 2-300. The 18-25 number is one of those "I saw it in print so it must be true " stories.

Any LS6 experts care to chime in?

I'm really curious if anyone else has seen or even heard of another Canadian delivered LS6 convertible, they are so easy to document. Mine was delivered new in Manitoba and left the province for Alberta in 1978.

For a long time the general consensous was 18-20 cars but over the last few years more than 30 have been documented. If you talk to the researchers, they pretty much believe the real numbers to be in the 200+ range. Based on what has surfaced just in the last year or so, I would have to say those are likely very accurate figures.

CamarosRus
There were more then 17 of these assembled originally.I believe I have found 30,and are probably more out there if I gave it my full attention.
This is a 1st week of May assembled Chevelle,so that drivers side A.I.R. Ex. tube is the correct design for it's time period.
The earlier production Chevelles, received the "hockeystick" design you speak of,as well as the GH ink stamping on the diverter valve, later built got the GH decal.

If John puts a GH decal on,and loses that Drivers side 1967-69 production #879 Ex. Manifold, for the proper 1970 production,he might just get that BIN price..A Delco Energizer R-79W Side Terminal Battery would be the icing on this cake. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
That being said.

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

Very smart move on the sellers part and a lesson to be learned. Ebay is a fantastic marketing and advertising medium. The seller puts his car at an unrealistic price, lots of car folks talk about it all over the web and the car gets a lot of exposure. The Ebay ad has over 26 thousand hits!! That is one hell of alot of exposure! When it goes up for sale at auction it will hopefully have attracted the attention of some serious buyers through the Ebay marketing!

Cost of Ebay ad: $40

Value of 26,ooo hits : Priceless!!!

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

No it has not.
A bidder did Bid 650K,but his son contacted the seller to say he wishes to remove his Fathers Bid.
The seller,John, has been very honest listing all the questions asked by the bidders in his auction summary.
He was waiting for the bidder to retract his own bid,but the Father didn't understand how and the son didn't know his Fathers password in time.
Suffice it to say,the auction ended showing his bid still in place. He has notified Ebay and it will not consider it as a sold vehicle.
John wants the Chevelle to go to someone who wants it,so he will not pursue any legal action against anyone.
He had a contract in place to sell it at the Russo/Steele Auto Auction Jan. 20-22 anyway if it did not sell on Ebay,so John is now making plans to continue with his obligation and take it to Russo/Steele.
It will be auctioned off around 6PM on Friday Jan. 20th.

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

Rick - any thoughts on the vin stamped in the heater box area? It came up in another post here that the metal around where the vin is stamped is quite distorted, as if it was hit with a hammer. The stamped numbers also look as if they were done with the blow of a hammer, whereas JohnZ and Keith T have stated that they would have been "rolled" in with a special machine.

The auction listing emphasized that many LS6 cars are rebodies, and this one is not. I'm skeptical on this one. Here's a link to the thread where it was brought up:

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...0/fpart/1/vc/1

and here's an image of the cowl vin that I lifted from the auction:

Mr70 01-07-2006 06:19 AM

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

I was erroneous to state this LS-6 Convertible will have a reserve.
John wants to sell the Chevelle,so it will enter the RS auction without one.

Also I can assure you that this is NOT a Rebody of anykind, and that the Body VIN# stampings in those pix are authentic. The angle & lighting do not do it justice as if you were to see it in person.
John has complete photos of the Chevelle prior and during restoration in bare steal.
John acquired this car from Don Hughey in S.C.,and it was restored by Gary & Mark in GreenBay,for those who asked.
John has been very upfront with his information, and will continue to do so for anyone who is interested in owning this Chevelle. If anyone wants more detailed or thorough information or Buildsheet data, they can PM or email me,
& I will forward you Johns contact information.

Rick, thanks for clearing that up. I was one of the people being suspicious about the appearance of the wavy sheet metal on that firewall, especially by the stampings, but if you say it's legit that's good enough for me. I hope that the sale at R-S goes well for him - it's a beautiful car. Fortunately, I will be there to see it in person https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

I'm still curious about that firewall. Was it hit and then wrecked ? It looks like it was wrinkled and then fixed. Do all firewalls on Chevelles look like that ? Any pics of other firewalls ?

Re: LS6 convertible $$$ DIG DEEP $$$

That stamp just doesn't look right but I'm not a knowledgable Chevelle person so I wouldn't know. But that "1" looks too small, like it was a different size stamp. But at least it's consistant on both stampings.
