70 Camaro
I am wondering if someone can tell me if this is a L-78 car from the tag info. The reads as follows
TO427CKO motor 124870N547660 Vin. ST7012487NOR297817 body TR723 43 43 05D car has been stored in a barn since 73 and has 12,000 miles on the odometer. The only thing odd is that it is in gray primer but it is complete and in good shape. thanks rock |
Re: 70 Camaro
CKO is a 375 hp...43 is Citrus green. Me and 50 other guys would like to buy it.

Charlie I have not dealt with Camaros much so I really don't know the finer points of what is right and what is not. I have been a "Shoebox" man all my life so I thought that the 57 FI car that is also in this barn was the big find but maybe I need to check more into the Camaro. If I can figure out how to post pics here I will put some pics of the barn up.
thanks rock |

LOL I don't think you can get either of these cars from my son. He found them 15 yrs. ago and we have been waiting our time. However there are over 20 other cars involved plus a large barn full of parts. Check out the blown small block in the background of this pic.

Re: 70 Camaro
I am absolutely convinced there are 1000 of these barns throughout America......and Charley will find 999 of them!!!!

Re: 70 Camaro
Shouldn't the trim tag say L-78 if it was indeed a 375 Hp car?? I believe the Norwood cars were coded this way.
Where in Texas are you? Maybe I could come by and inspect the car for you.. Paul |

Re: 70 Camaro
Can someone tell if that body number lines up with the VIN?
|
Re: 70 Camaro
Yes it does have L78 on the tag. It is right after the 05D
There is a space and then L78. It was in my original post but somehow I deleted it when I was trying to get a picture to come up. Johnny |

Re: 70 Camaro
L-78 on Trim Tag ONLY for L.A.(VAn Nuys) 70 Camaros. L.A. Camaros in 70 didnt get Trim Tag denoted, but did ship with Build sheets over gas tanks and/or under seat springs which is ALL important in documenting a REAL 1970 L.A. L-78, L-34 or Z-28.

Re: 70 Camaro
Chuck, I think you meant Norwood built got the "L78" on the tag.

Re: 70 Camaro
Charlie, Thanks for correcting what I was thinking, but stated wrong !!!!!!!!!!

Re: 70 Camaro
Machinist..... A word of caution on giving clues as to where these cars can be found. There are many that check this web site and probably a few that would drive around in your town trying to find thses cars.

Re: 70 Camaro
Charlie thanks for the warning. One good thing about that is that we now own all of the cars so they would have to steal them to get them. Plus all but 4 cars have the motors & trans pulled and we have them at a different place than the cars.

Re: 70 Camaro
beautiful car, thx for the pic, it will give me an idea of what the finished product should look like. question, the build sheet indicates a p02 wheel, or cover, any idea what that should look like?

Re: 70 Camaro
Correct me if i am wrong , but wasn't this farm discussed on the team chevelle web site about a year or so ago ? Some fella wanting info about a 70 chevelle that he had & alot of other cars & posted some pictures - one of them being the blown small block ? Thought all cars were going to be auctioned off ?

Re: 70 Camaro
My memory is not what it once was . It was on team chevelle as a link to , once again if memory serves , a web site called chevytalk or something of that name ? Also i think that the conversation started from wanting to know about info for the 57 fuelie & the 70 got brought into it . Some more computer literate minds can find it i'm sure !

Re: 70 Camaro
WOW! In just a couple weeks there have been 3 L-78 Camaro surfacings.
This is awesome! More pictures and information please. |
Re: 70 Camaro
the cars that had surfaced previously and their discussion on this site was what promped me to begin looking for a similar car. i had made some calls earlier in the month trying to track down a shelby mustang, the gentleman with this car called back to say the shelby was gone although he wondered if i had any interest in an L-78 camaro which he was aware of. fortunately for me i had been following the threads on this site about the L-78 cars and because of the info i learned here i was able to recognize that the car was worthwhile in pursuing. thx to all, alan
