H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Anybody else have a car originally from H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska ?
|
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Which of your cars is from H&H? They were in the Yenko dealer network, but I'm not certain they ever actually sold a Yenko car.
|
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
If I remember correctly H&H sold at least one deuce. A sunflower yellow one that I think may have been on the same transport as mine. They dropped mine off in Cedar Rapids, then went on to H&H. That sf deuce still resides in the area out there. It's an original owner car, with motion style sidepipes. Very cool.

I've got almost every bit of the original docs from H&H. Including the delivery check list, warranty bookley ( ie pop ) and dealer invoice. Seem to still be good people there. I called a few years ago and still in business. Yes, I spoke to the the original owner and he still lives in Cedar Rapids. |

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
I used to videotape lots of Nebraska football games back in the 1980's, and I'm pretty sure I've got a bunch of tv commercials taped from H&H, back in the day. Their advertising slogan for many years was, "H&H Chevrolet, Home of the truck."

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
H&H is alive and well. Every summer they have a large all Chevy show. This year it is July 16. Dad and I make sure to attend, it is a great time. Last year there were around 400 cars there. It is free and unjudged. Very casual day.
Each year they empty the showroom and have a specific theme or display. I think a reunion of original Hi-Po H&H cars would be a neat idea. If anyone is interested try calling the sales manager and pitching the idea. I do know there is an original owner burgandy 69 SS Chevelle sold by H&H that attends every year. Beautiful car. http://www.hhchevy.com/specialevents.php |
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
I spent many a day walking through H&H as a child. I was born and raised in Omaha. H&H was one of the largest Chevy dealers in Omaha, I remember lots of Chevelle SS's, some camaro's and Vette's. I never saw a real Yenko till I bought my Deuce in 1995. If there were any there, they did not go to the cay shows in the area. They may have made a showing at the local 1/4 mile track. My father and I only hit the locat circle track from time to time. I still have tons of family in Omaha. I am past due for a trip home. Dave

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
A sunflower yellow deuce was sold through H&H. Still with it's original owner. Still in that area. She has side pipes. Very cool.
Dave, are both deuces finished now? We'd like to see some pics, and I know you've got some. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
The Yenko Nova with the sidepipes is in Lincoln NE last I knew. I saw it at a Car Craft show there in the late 90's.
|
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Yep, still there.

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
The deuce was spotted at a wedding last summer, still sporting the sidepipes https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
The best memory I have of that duece is the owner took the time to talk to me and let a kid fresh out of high school drool all over his car. It was 10 years ago but that is what I remember most about that car.
Just goes to show how great most car people are. |
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
I've talked with him, and sent pics back and forth. I'd sure like to talk him into bringing it down to Collinsville. That would be the second time those two yellow deuces were together. First time was on the transport.
I think his son is a member here. Get dad to bring the deuce. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Hi. The car you guys are talking about belongs to my Dad. He bought it new in 1971 from H&H in Omaha. It is the only Yenko ever sold at that dealership. I came home from the hospital in that car when I was born in 1972 and we still have it today. We get it out every once in a while for special occasions.
Thanks, Ken Halvorsen |
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Ken, does that mean your yellow deuce will be there this year.. and it says racing by your name too.. two yellow deuces going at it! may need another trophy!

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
I doubt that we'll make it to Collinsville this year. I hope to bring the Nova and the Vega to the show, but I am fairly sure it won't happen this year.
Thanks, Ken |

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Thank you Bruce. Joe, I thought you'd pick up on that H&H dealer emblem right away. This deuce shares the same type of hood stripeing as mine. The LT/1 is at a reverse angle compared to most other deuces. You never notice it until you park by one with it the other way. I've never seen it on any of the first batch. Only the 2nd. I was thinking that Hassett's h/o deuce may have been that way originally, but can't remember. I do like those side pipes.
|
Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
Joe look at the emblem on the duece... I have one just like yours and its different then on the car...

Re: H & H Chevrolet, Omaha, Nebraska
I didn't think there were any first batchers that way. If there is, then obviously that style is the only true correct way, and the rest are wrong. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

I simply picked the direction from the original striped car closest to mine in production order - some little deuce in Spanglor https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
