1968 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
1 Attachment(s)
Well here are the pics guys. Now all I need is help from you guys to tell me what we have. We spoke with the seller today and he emphatically states this car is and always was as he states a Nickey car. I know you guys stated that paper work is the key and as you can see we were lucky to find a car at all let alone paper trail. It is like pulling teeth with this guy for info. If we asked to much he would have sent us out of his yard. The car does not have a Nickey sticker on the rear like I mentioned it actually has the insignia painted on when the car was repainted a darker blue. You can also see that there is a partial 427 emblem located on the front of the driver fender. You can see the original paint under it so it does appear they have been there for quite some time. I will list the VIN# and appreciate any help on this car. The VIN# is 124378N322855 . I will also post a pic of the tag on the firewall and again I don't know if that tells me anything or not. Thanks again for any help.

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
Blue on Blue car, NICE!!! Did you run the numbers on the motor???
|
Re: 1968 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
No I haven't checked nor do I even know how to on Chevy stuff.

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
Look on the passenger side of the motor in front of the head there is a little pad that sicks out... It should be about 1/2" X 3" or so. On that pad should be some letters and numbers, write down all that you see.. The car looks like it was driven hard, with the slapper bars, no power brakes, and a 4 speed SWEET.. Mark

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
I am not near the car tonight so I will check tomorrow and see what I can find. What about the emblems and ideas on those. I am aware they could have maybe purchased them. Are they similar to the ones used on the Nickey cars?
Also does the vin# number tell you guys anything on the car? |
Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
Take a picture of the engine stamp on the front passenger side of the motor right in front of the head and also take one straight down showing the steering box and linkage...

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
Seems like he found a true diamond in the rough.
Awesome find... I think we will all be interested in the resto of this rare breed. COOL FIND! |
Re: 1968 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
thanks guys it is a neat car and would be nice to know much more history on it. From what the prior owner said the car was drag raced locally for some time early in its life. I am calling a guy that used to race a ss/aa dart at the same track in the same era. He actually has some footage of the races. We might get some info there. I will get those photos asap.

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
The emblems look like the ones that would have been installed on a 1967 427 Impala, so I can see them using the emblems, but anyone could go to a dealership and order them from the parts dept. I'm not saying this was the case with this car but you need more evidence like the engine pad info, casting numbers on the back of the block, what heads are on the motor, intake, etc. With no paperwork and no way to look at the cars history (THANK YOU HOMELAND SECURITY), its going to take a deeper look at the characteristics of this particular car... Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
The prior owner states that the motor in the car is a 396. I think I may have confused you guys on that earlier. The 427 is supposedly not in the car. He bought the car from his brother with the motor out. He stated that his brother offered him $16,000 to buy the car back. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Back when the car was running with the 396 in it not the way it is now. The brother is gone. I mean way gone. In that the case the motor won't tell us anything right?

Mark [/ QUOTE ] Has nothing to do with Homeland Security and everything to do with a Hollywood actress being hunted down and murdered at her front door out in California a few years back by some lunatic who got her address info from the local motor vehicle office. The result was a Federal and well as local law in every state that now restricts the information going out on ownership history. |
Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
Can someone run the Vin through the NICS or NCIS whatever...
To see which dealer it went to? That could cut out a lot of confusion... REAL QUICKLY |

|

Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
I knew someone would correct me... I was too damn lazy to look it up.
It's like alphabet soup with all the acronyms |
Re: 1969 Nickey Pics as found in woods?????
That will be a really cool find if you can get some history and documentation on the car to show it is a real Nickey car.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
