Calling All Music Fans...

Since we have a whole bunch of pack racks on this website (which is a good thing ) I was wondering if anyone has been hoarding some good old Live Music cds or cassettes. I am particularly looking for any Allman Brothers Band, Doors, or Led Zeppelin I can get my hands on. If trading is your thing, let me know! I have a lot of Live Music and would LOVE to share. After being around for a couple years now, music is the only soul of the 60s and 70s that is seldom spoken of.

Remember guys... Keep your eyes on the road, and your hands up-on the wheel.

As in "live", do you mean like bootlegged kinda stuff?

Yep! Items that were recorded while the concert was going on.

I have the original vinyl records of the bands you mentioned.
No bootlegs. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Most of them sounded awful. Portable recording equipment back then was primative at best. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Growing up in Macon, during the ABB hayday, I love em too. I even have a copy of Dwayne's wreck report from the MPD. I will look and see about the vinyl, not sure what I got or where it is packed away.
RIP Dwayne and Barry

I think I have almost every Allman bros album but I'm not parting with them. I actually wore out the Live at Fillmore East double album and had to buy another. Later bought it on CD. I managed to see them at the Fillmore west before Duane died.

Anyone who is an Allman Bros. fan should read a book called,"Midnight Rider". It is a very close account to how things really were, the good and the bad. Gregg, Butch, and the others were livid when it came out.
An interesting bit of trivia, guess how much the insurance company (company truck involved in wreck)paid Dwayne's estate for his death?
Remember this was 1970. The company truck btw was Sam Hall Construction, they are still in business today.

The grand sum of $21,000
His Harley sportser sat at the local Harley shop for years and was robbed of parts until they threw it away.

I ached for the music from the past recently.
I was ecstatic to find a Box full of 8TK tapes at a swapmeet recently. The good stuff like CCR,3DN,BTO & Especially ABB.This may just be me,but their music sounds more authentic to me on the 8TK tape format, then on the current released and cleaned up CDS.

Oh Yes Rick... All cds are digitally remastered. Computers do everything these days.
The ABB have these new releases called Instant Live CDs. They are quite costly but you can get any show from the recent tour. Anyone look into these?

Since it's music and your car is Mosport Green, all I can offer you is an old record called 'The Sounds of Mosport'. . It's a 60's live recording of cars racing at the Mosport track. . Also Music and Mosport related, you may be able to come up w/ some live recordings of Woodstock style music festivals at Mosport like 'Strawberry Fields' 1970? Canada Jam 77? . Good luck!

There is another thread about xm here now. I have found it to be the best mix of music yet. I always have mine tuned to channel 7 which is the 70's music. They have enough varity that you hardly ever hear the same tune twice in a week. Of course the more seasoned members might get into the 50's, 60's or even 40's stuff. you yuoungs can have the 80's and 90's.LOL
Dan, I bought the live cd at the last ABB concert in Knoxville. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. Could have been the venue, but nothing like "An Evening with the ABB" which was recorded live in Macon in 90 or 91. I was there all three or four nights, getting old, can not remember just how many it took to get it right. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Quick story, I was working security at the back door one of the nights. A police got into a arguement with a guy in a 74 Ford panel van. I walked over to see what the deal was. The cop said, "Oh, it's nothing, just some damn hippy trying to park back here." I look in the van, and it is Warren H. The concert is waiting on him to start, he is stoned, and the cop is making him back out of the parking lot. Thank goodness I knew who he was..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

I bet the other cop did not realize who he was yelling at... Warren Haynes can play the 6-string like a saint... Good Ole https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

I had the pleasure of seeing Warren Haynes with the Dave Matthews Band at Central Park in 9/2003. They covered Neil Young's song Cortez the Killer... Ring a bell anyone?? Warren had a 2-3 guitar solo. The show was well worth the free ticket!

How many of us here are musicians?...not too long ago a friend of mine found an old recording we did messing around back around 1983 and put it on the Southern Rock internet charts and it flew into the top 10 and finally topped out at 5...A label actually wanted to sign us until they found out we were 20 years older than they thought https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Where were they 20 years ago! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

There's a new large hard cover book just out on Billy Gibbons which features his guitars and cars. Loaded with pictures and history over his career.

Mid/Late sixties - James Gang, Blackfoot, Cream, Yardbirds, T.N & Amboy Dukes......anyone remember Tommy Bolin, Rare Bird, Beacor Street (Little Rock radio station)?

Shine On......a classic from Humble Pie.

No one has mentioned Eric Clapton yet. Any of his stuff is great, but of course, Derek and the Dominos would be my favorite, since we all know who one of the "Dominos" was.
Well, see y'all later, hitting the road this morning headed to SEMA. I am glad this thread started, now, three day road trip, xm included. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot about Tommy Bolin.."Post Toastie". I recently bought some James Gang CD's"Joe Walsh". Clapton is so obvious he does not need mention. Robin Trower, Billy Squier, Jeff Beck.

Since ya'll have mentioned most of the Southern rock bands, I thought I would through out a couple more: Charlie Daniels, Wet Willie, 38 Special and Elvin Bishop. All the talk about the Allman Bros and no one has mentioned Dickey Betts yet!!!
One of the best songs Dwayne Allman did was on his Anthology album, "Happily Married Man". "Ain't seen my wife in two or three years. I'm a happily married man"

Back in the 70's Bruce Springsteen use to play in this little dump down the street called "Le Garage" before he was famous, Also remember John Bon Jovi and others hanging out at garden State music before he hit the big time, I was in his first video at Seaside park. George Thorogood also played locally at a place called Joe Pops. Actually many famous musicians played at Pops, anyone here ever go to the place in Ship Bottom on LBI? As for Southern Rock, Skynard was the ultimate, Sweet Home Alabama will rock on forever https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Or non-rockers who were cool, like CSNY, Dylan, and the Band??

Hey, you need to include SRV there for your instrumental!! While he may be the King of Blues (IMO), ya still can't beat The age of the "Doors" and of Course - the sounds of "Motown". ---Eric Clapton played in the Garden this past weekend in a two nite comeback with "Cream". My brother in law paid $1500 beans for a ticket, said it was worth every penny.
