any help 70 Nova SS L-78
I have found an L-78 Nova that I'm interested in buying. I am looking for info on what to look for... any past discussion on this subject or resources to keep me from making a costly mistake? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
Is it a dealer car or private seller.? Lotsa garbage being peddled out there in Dealerland.

Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
thanks for the leads. I know by the pix sent to me, the heater core is a big block...I will continue to hunt down the obscure items that most guys overlook if they're trying to pawn off a clone. I have no reason to doubt his word but it is not an orig owner car or a car with docs.

Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
Didn't the transmission cross member have a different shaped opening for the big block as opposed to the small block?
I thought I had read that somewhere; could be mistaken. |
Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
Check the radiator opening first, it's one of the things that is rarely changed when swapping in a BB.

[/ QUOTE ] I saw that on the Nova research page..but I didnt see a small block vs. a big block radiator support sitting side by side for comparison. are there any part #'s stamped on the big block support? |
Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
no, just look for the larger opening and the weld nut on the passenger side.

Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
also, engine is offset one inch to pasenger side as viewed from the front.

Re: any help 70 Nova SS L-78
If it was built with a TH400,check the passenger side alumnium tag for a CW suffix, among other stamped codes in it as well.
