1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
Just looked at a 67 2dr. post 67 chevelle roller. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif
I am considering buying it and wonder what you guys think about the "post" cars. You don't see many of them around, the ones you do see aren't done that nicely. I have a vision of SS hood, steelies with dogdishes, maybe a mini tub rear and widened rear steelies, 396 or 427,bench seat plain jane black interior (it has already), either a t400 or a 4 gear (car has the pedals)12 bolt etc. If any of you have seen floyd Garrets (sp?)67 sedan with a ZL-1 you'll know what I'm talking about..... I want to know what people think of these sedans, and how would resale be down the road after I've had my fun. Are sedans "dogs" or "desireable"?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
If you are talking about Floyd Garrett's gold '67, that is one beautiful car. I love sleepers, especially two door sedan versions. The post makes for a more solid body structure than a hardtop. I think the thing to remember if you do this car is to stick with the bare bones, no frills theme as that's why these cars were built when new. They start to look really tacky when people try to turn them into a Super Sport or put some stupid flashy paint job on them with billet wheels. My advice: flat hood, steel wheels, bench seat. Something along the lines of Floyd's 67. It's so memorable because it's done right.

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
Thanks for the reply, yes, thats the car. nice clean & neat.
The only concession I was going to make was a SS hood, but I would not add any stupid paint or moldings to trash it up. I wouldn't want to "change" it into a SS, which would be impossible anyway on a post, (but I agree the emblems and all would be trashy) but I like the look of the SS hood. Maybe a flat hood would be better....I don't know. |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
If I would build another car (other than a BB Nova) it would be a 66 or 67 chevelle 300 post car, bench seat, 427BB, 4spd, steel wheels and caps, plain jane color. Just a cool "total sleeper" to torture all the local boys. If you can buy it right, do it! Or send it to me.....

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
I love sedans!(Biscayne, Chevelle 300, Chevy II 100)You don't see the post cars as much as the hardtops. Here is a 67 from Chevy High performance magazine that has been a favorite of mine.

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
The only thing keeping me from buying it is I think the guy wants too much $$$$.
No eng no trans bare roller needs 2 floor patches,at least 1 rear quarter and outer w/house and both lowers on front fenders plus a repair to front of r.h. frnt fender, 2 patches in trunk at frame mounts where they always go, various other dents and small rust issues, but still wearing orig paint, so hasn't been rodded yet. |

What's he asking?

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedan
2k.
Its not that its alot of money, but this is probably a 1200.00 car. Once I put it in print it seems petty though. I just see finished sedans topping out at 8-9k which is pretty low. |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
I prefer the 2 Dr. Sedans any day! Besides the structural strength against twisting of a post cars, depending on vehicle model some have less steel in the roof and/or C pillars adding up to less weight. Performance hoods are great but Dog Dish caps a must! While on the subject of post cars and Chevelles, what's the production figure on the 69 Chevelle SS 2 Dr. Sedan?
Thanks! ~ Pete 67 RCMP Biscayne 396 2 Dr. Post |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
not many I would think....
I've always been partial to posts on pretty much anything...has that stripper go fast look. I don't know what it is about this damn car, but I want it so I think I'll get it. |

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
Yeah, I would do it... without much thought for that price (after all, what is the exchange rate for USD).
We have a '65 Chevelle Malibu SS. I would like to get a 66 - 67. Personally, I prefer the non-post look... like it with all the windows down. |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
2000.00 CDN works out to roughly 1600.00 US I think.
I know.... its not much...There's hardtops everywhere, much easier to find than the post cars. |
Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
I guess they are all up there in Canada... rarely see them for sale around here... especially for so cheap.

Re: 1967 Chevelle 2 dr. sedans
Well I bought it.
Not sure when I'll get started on it, but you never see these things very often, and I think it'll make a good sleeper. I guess my problem with the price is that I never see these things go for much money all done, but then again I haven't seen any that are done right except Floyds, so that may be why. These cars just don't look good lowered or billeted or striped or all dressed up. I'm going the stripper/stock direction and I think that is in line with the look of a sedan. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Mark |
