How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Given the option of changing colors on a car you're NEVER going to sell, would you:
A) Change the color to one that suits you best (one you've always wanted)and the hell with the trim tag. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif B) If so,what do you think is the BEST color for a '69 Z/28 ? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif I realize everything is subjective but I'm just trying to gauge the current thoughts on a very odd, original color,IMHO.I realize Ford offers a retro-like "Legend Lime" on the new '05 'Stangs but it isn't pretty in person, trust me.Only VW offers a stranger similar green on their Bugs. MY personal choice for #1 best color on a '69 Camaro...for what it's worth...is Hugger Orange followed by Daytona Yellow & LeMans Blue in that order...just my 2 cents, and we ALL know a '69 Camaro looks good in ANY color! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |
Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
I think there is nothing better than a dusk blue '69..

I figured a pacific coaster might still be awake.
Nice, very nice! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif I should change my title to: "What is your FAVORITE color combination for a 1969 Camaro?" so that no one would be offended. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Oh,by the way...
Love the license plate. |
Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
For a 69 Camaro...I like the Lemans Blue...but then I'm partial to blue anyways...right Sam? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Best color? Tuxedo Black, no question in my mind. Trying to find a Code 10 Z for sale right now. And yes, 69 Camaro's look good in any color.

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
I thought I read somewhere where Black was applied to less than 1% of all '69's but I could be wrong. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I like that too! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif
Isn't it amazing that Frost Green was more popular than Hugger Orange and Daytona Yellow? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Count me as a frost green fan. I would love to find a code 59 Z/28 car that WASN'T already painted belly button orange or yellow. I had a 69 RS/SS in that color and got tons of compliments about the shade... it's a cool retro color. A Frost Green/black 69 Z would rock IMO. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
I had a frost green/black top RS/Z with endura and black houndstooth,D80 etc. It was black when I found it. It is being restored back to Frost Green by the new owner. I thought it would be awsome done...BKH

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
I forgot about that Z bkh... that one will be a cool car when it's done. Here's my old car in that combo, while its not a Z, it should give you the general idea... the polyglas tires were not original nor correct btw. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Keep it Frost Green!
We have two Mosport Green Corvettes... Very similar shade to Frost Green! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...nvertible1.jpg We also have a 1972 Nova SS in Silver Green which is on the silver side of Frost Green. Frost green is created with a combination of blue, silver and yellow. When you alter the shades of blue, and silver, you get all the shades in between Cortez Silver and Frost Green. Spent a long while talking to my paint guy about this. Frost Green is such a period correct color! Leave it alone! |
Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
I choose option A. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif I have a 69 SS350 4speed convert with 727 59 A code (white standard interior, Frost green ext, white convert top and white hockey stripes). I will NOT be returning it to that combo, hell with the trim tag https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif. It is going to be Olympic gold, black top and stripes and black deluxe comfortweave with PT, PB, PW, PS, RS, D80, ZL2, FD seat +. I am making it like I would have ordered it in 69. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif It's just going to take a little longer to make than GM did it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

I was kicking around the idea of Keeping my 69 Z the non original Maroon it has always been as opposed to its original color Orange with white stripes and there are quite a few of those around here. Then I realized its supposed to have a black vinyl roof with black stripes so I will be putting it back to trim code Hugger Orange as that combo is one of my favorites. Plus it will look really cool sitting between two tuxedo black Z's https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |

Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Sam, the SS lost most of its original parts in an accident before I bought it as a shell, so changing the look of it is not a problem for me. I've aquired almost everything casting correct and most date coded correct, so it will be just like the general did it (have the correct RS wiper motor with soleniod too). I even have original comfortweave seats that will be repaired and all original perfect door panels.
The mule on the other hand still has the original engine and will be brought back to its original color combo and 2bbl setup. I'm just swaping the PG (keeping it) and putting a TH350 in. K |

Mark http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...50/Driver2.jpg [/ QUOTE ] Mark, Mine was 59/59 w/723 interior but when I got it,someone had already changed the int. to Black 711.I intended on re-finishing the car back to code 59 but with White stripes and a deluxe White interior.I had some paint mixed and redid the front grille and repaired some damage on the front header and then just before we got further along on the project,I decided to refinish the car in Yellow which I've always wanted.I choose 2003 Corvette Z06 Millenium Yellow and it looks spectacular even if I do say so myself. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif The thing I like about Frost Green is that it changes colors in the shade and always looks slightly different. Re: How many Frost Green (59) fans are out there?
Wow, funny you guys mention this. I was just thinking today about what my future paint/interior plans will be. My '69 was "triple green"- Frost Green exterior, Midnight Green interior, Dark Green Vinyl top. While the color scheme is definetly unique (and that's being charitable) I don't think it will return to its former glory.

I agree with you. Your hugger orange Z/28 will look sweet sitting between two tuxedo black Z/28's. I'm hoping that you are planning on posting a few picture of this as soon as it happens. I'm a big fan of the hugger orange myself here is a picture of my car. I just sent the pictures to Bruce to post in the members rides. The frost green took a while to get use to but I seen a really nice one this summer at a show that had black stripes and a vinyl top and dark green interior. WOW was that a nice car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Jesse

Would have painted mine that color but my 70 Z is Hugger and I didn't want two of the same...hence,the Yellow. |

I'm intrested in seeing what the whole car looks like. The one thing that really will keep me from staying true to my trim tag when the time comes is the green vinyl top- that really kills it. Frost Green and Midnight green looks good but not with the vinyl top I'm sure. |
