-----I have been looking for a 64 442 for a long time. They are super rare, even rarer as a convert. All I have seen except one in Sarnia Ont. have been molested one way or another as this car has. "Block is available" is a little too loose for me. Oh! The one in Sarnia just cant be bought at this time or it would be on this side of the river........Bill S

Really like the 64's, My best friend had a hardtop with 330 auto and we did alot of cruising back in Highschool... He got thumped by a chevy wagon, went out and bought a non-title 69 442 for 75.00 bucks and dropped the 455,rear, 4 speed and 4 speed linkage in and that car flew.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: 1964 Olds 442 Convertible for sale

Only '69 442 with a factory 455 was the limited production H/O. All other 442s were 400s until the 1970 model year.

If it was a factory two speed auto in '64 it wasn't a 442.

Sam,

-----Must have been only a Cutlass (maybe with added 442 emblems) because in 1964 and only 1964 you could only get a true 442 with a 4-yanker. Thats one of the reasons I think Im attracted to them so much........Bill S

"have been molested one way or another as this car has. "Block is available" is a little too loose for me. "

??????

The car is documented with Bill of Sale and POP. The original engine has been passed along with the car for the past 3 owners. With the exception of the engine not being in the car you will not find a nicer UNMOLESTED, DOCUMENTED 1964 Olds 442 CONVERTIBLE. I certainly have been able to even find a picture of one on the Internet.

I will tell you after driving the car, with the 455 that's in it, I know why the original engine is being used as a paperweight!

Re: 1964 Olds 442 Convertible for sale

-------No offense was intended in my reply. Sorry if it was taken. It said original block was available. That, to me, meant that it could be had for extra money. Apparently I misunderstood. Also, in my estimation, molested means "replaced motor" for whatever reason. As well, I really am looking for a 64 442, but want one I virtually have to do nothing to, as in low mileage, near perfect with the original drivetrain. I fully realize I may have a long search. Therefore, This car doesnt suit me to a T, but certainly ought to suit many, many others as it too is a cool 442. Hope thats clear enough as I cant figure out how to say it any other way. Good luck with the sale.........Bill S

The car was built by the factory using the Police Apprehender frames for added strength in all 64 442s. (See Attachment)

Re: 1964 Olds 442 Convertible for sale

How cool is this?

Tonight I got a phone call from the ORIGINAL Owner of the 1964 442 I have for sale!!!! Someone (that he doesn't even know) saw the auction on eBay and found his phone number in North Carolina (when he purchased the car in 1964 he lived in NY) and left him a message telling him that if he had purchased a 442 convertible in 1964 that he should check out the one on ebay. He did and it is his.

Seems him and his wife were married in 1963 and had been driving some old junkers and decided that they wanted a F-85 4 Speed Convertible. They went to the dealer in Ossining NY and he had the 442 sitting in the lot brand new. It was ordered by a kid who unfortunately got drafted to Vietnam so he could not take possession. They bought the car (they named Linus) which they owned until 1984, when they moved to NC. He said he sold the car for $2,500.

He thinks he wants to buy the car back so I am holding it for him while he makes up his mind.

Nothing makes me happier than to find a good home for nice car but in this case I found its family!!!!!

Re: 1964 Olds 442 Convertible for sale

That is a cool story.
I found a 64 in a little old lady's garage yesterday. I've been passing it for years, wondering what was under that cover just sitting there. So, yesterday I stopped to ask if i could to a peek at what was under there and she said sure. I was sure i was going to see a chevelle or a gto pop out, I just couldn't tell from way out on the road. When i pulled up the cover...whammo
She started talking to me about it, but i was just to stunned! I couldn't hardly hear her anymore. I couldn't believe the condition that car was in. She asked if i wanted some cookies and milk, and i said sure. She left and i started pouring over the car. What a car! I could not find a stitch of rust anywhere. I asked her if she might be willing to sell it, she told me she was thinking of doing just that, but she had not had the time to think of a price yet. I asked her to name her price and ....get this.....she said " Dear, would 500 hundred dollars be to terribly expensive for you?" She said that she knew it was old and hoped that it wasn't asking to much. To make a long story short, I'm the proud new owner of the straightest car i have ever seen............. period!
