got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Some of you may remember that about a year and a half ago I posted that a guy on ebay ripped me and several other off (Ebay ID: chevynut1969).
He was selling engines on ebay, 454 LS6's, 427/425hp, etc. I "bought" a 1969 427/425 that was supposed to be pristine and rebuilt. His MO was that he ended the auction early, saying that there were deadbeat bidders, and that you could have the engine at your high bid (remember this was just the begining of the scam era). He also had 100% pos feedback, with many engines being sold. What you got shipped was a junkyard block on a pallet. Something close but worthless. I got a 72 402 out of a monte. At least , mine was a complete engine. Thus, you got an "engine" and got a product for your money, so the police looked at it (civial matter, not supposedly criminal) When you tracked down the phone number and called the prick, you quickly got an earfull. You also found out that he was not a "retired mechanic" but a college punk. When you called the police in the local area, you got an earful from them about the woes of using the internet. After seeing several others bidding on his engines, I emailed them and warned them. Ebay "removed" me for the "violation" of their policies. He still had 100% pos feedback. I kept those email addresses, and after several others were similarly taken in, I called the FBI in seattle (near his hometown of Bellington). Turns out, he also took a senator's son with the same scheme (might be the only reason they acted on it?). Soon he was arrested again! It took a year, but they finally prosecuted the punk, and today I got my first restitution check for $84.25 (we'll see how many more I get). He also got some very lienient jail time (30 days I think?). http://www.69lm1.com/check.jpg Rich |

I would say that you are exactly right about the Senator's son getting ripped off caused them to take action. Obviously, politician's have more pull than us common folk. As far as it being a civil matter versus a criminal matter, they told you right. Unfortunately, if you recieve product that is close to what you purchased it is civil. If you receive nothing for your money or a bag of rocks when you purchased an engine, then it is criminal. The Fed's will not typically act on internet crime unless there are several thousand dollars involved. With thousands of thefts being commited over the internet every single day, unfortunately, it is hard for law enforcement to act on everything. The main problems w/ internet crimes are jurisdiction and manpower. Anyway, thank your lucky stars that you are actually getting a little restitution. I'm glad they were able to get the punk for you. I have my own opinions of what I think should be done, but I'll keep them to myself. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Knoxville ------------------------- 1969 Camaro RS/SS L-78 |
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
I bet the Senator's son already got full restitution.

Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
From what I hear, the son did get a full refund. From what I understand from the agent in charge, he was really a punk and told them (the agents) off as well, which of course did not help him any. And even though the judge ordered him to "not use" ebay for x year(s) (gotta go reread that judgement), he is still on there with 100% pos feeback.
There's a little more to the story, the way he got 100% pos was to have friends bid on engines with buy it now. I was watching his account like a hawk, when I saw him put three engines w/ a buy it now, I executed on all three. Then I left him neg feedback. I "mentioned" that he had been arrested, which also violated ebay "rules". He of course left me neg feedback in response. What did ebay do? The removed my feedback from his account, ( http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...-1&frm=2624 ) They left his neg feedback on my acccount and banned me for life: ( http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...-1&frm=2624 ) {Notice the neg from Tamraz! They Suck!} Read his comments! Gheez, Rich |

I always hate to hear these things because it makes you second guess every internet purchase ( ebay included ). What angers me most is it appears that the Senator's son got all of his money back. His parent takes your hard earned $$ via. taxes. You get ripped-off, and so does the son. The son gets full restitution and you get a bone. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif When do we say enough is enough!!!! I think you should recontact the idiots the manage ebay and clue them in to this. Show them the check you got, and I'm sure some legal documentation to verify all. Demand that they re-instate you ( with honors ). Keep us posted. Glad to see you got something back anyway. Go get a couple cases of beer, some shrimp for the barbie, and have a nice weekend. Politicians, why do we need them again??????? Ok, off the soap-box. Sorry !!! Steve |

Tamraz is a crapshoot for sure.... [/ QUOTE ] My biggest issue is that they sell "items" on ebay that they have not even ordered themselves yet. When I called to "overnight" the part I purchased with buy it now, tunred out it was "not in stock", but of course, for a "small" additional fee, they had an upgraded part available! When I decided that I would not do that, I got the part elsewhere, and they had the B@LL's to leave me neg feedback! I don't know many people that speak up for them! Rich |

I think I'll run right down and check. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif Knoxville ---------------------------- 1969 Camaro RS/SS L-78 |

Hey Knoxville, you haven't seen Donut shops until you've cruised through Rhode Island. Seems to be one every block and on both sides of the road - and they all stay in business. -- Plenty of Muscle cars there and several cruise nights around, but beware lots of salt water and salty air. Sunday mornings are the best, an early morning cruise to grab a cup of joe, boston cream and New England news-paper to see what Politicians are under investigation or going to jail this week. lol

Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Politicians?
Bet we got you beat here in Louisiana. It was so bad that when edwin edwards (now in jail) was running against david duke, there were bumper signs everywhere that said "vote for the crook, it's important". That is no lie! However, in the last two months, there have been eight (that's right 8) cops busted. Some in New Orleans were stopping tourists, and taking them straight to ATM machines (I guess they forgot about the camera's on the ATM's) and squeezing them for cash. Others (2) were fired for raping young women after traffic stops, and the rest were just run of the mill beatings! Gotta love the New Orleans area! Rich |
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Rich,
I have always heard horror stories about the corruption in the New Orleans area. I once heard that two off duty police officers were working security at a business, one officer allegedly left early and then later returned to rob the establishment. He/she then shot and killed the other cop who was his/her partner. All this for the all mighty dollar. Obviously, you find "Bad Apples" in all professions from cops to clergy to CEO's, teachers, etc..... When someone who takes an oath to protect others commits these acts, it angers me because it reflects upon the entire profession. In my opinion, they are common criminals and should face harsher penalties and all other good cops will agree with me. The sad fact of the matter is the law enforcement profession struggles more and more each year to employ quality people. Lets face it, who wants to work the worst shifts available,(including Holidays), go up against some of the most cold blooded monsters to ever walk this earth, face being constantly sued by greedy trial lawyers and risk losing everything over a split second decision you made. All that for a sh*#y little salary and a cheap gold watch upon retirement. It's a sad but true fact that the police profession does not attract the quality people it needs any longer. I have worked w/ some of the most highly trained, top quality professionals out there but we are losing good quality people to better paying jobs on a daily basis. Cops are trained to be professionals but are certainly not paid like professionals. I have heard that some police departments across the country have lowered their hiring/screening standards so much that some are waiving certain felonies for prospective recruits. When you give common street thugs a badge, a gun and police power then guess what happens, your tourists start being raped and robbed by these badge weilding turds. I did not enter this profession to get rich, I wanted to be a police officer because I care about people and the quality of life of my community. I certainly would not be able to be in this somewhat expensive hobby of muscle cars if not for the help of my wife, as well as, a landscaping business I own on the side. The law enforcement profession is still and will always be (IMHO) one of the most honorable professions out there. Whether I remain in it or not, my heart will always be there. I just hope people realize what is happening and conditions improve for the sake of our country. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif Knoxville ------------------------ 1969 Camaro RS/SS L-78 |
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Knoxville, You heard right. That N.O.P.D. police officer that killed her partner is named Antoinette Frank. She failed the N.O.P.D. psyc test numerous times (atleast three) before they hired her. N.O.P.D. also found her "miissing" father's body under their house after she was arrested for killing the cop. I hope she burns in hell!!!!
|
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Tim, Thanks for your input. That is unbelievable and is exactly what I am talking about. Sounds like N.O.P.D. really dropped their standards to hire that idiot. She then turns right around and embarrasses her department, as well as the badge that she did not deserve to wear in the first place.
Oh well, I'll get off my soapbox. Nice to meet another fellow Lawman that is into Detroit Muscle. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Knoxville ------------------------ 1969 Camaro RS/SS L-78 |
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Yes, the A Frank thing was bad. Her partner was one of my best friends son. That was below the belt, even for the new orleans area. Ron's son left a young wife and baby behind.
Sad. I agree, my wife is a certified school teacher. College Degree, Math and Science certified. 5 Years, and she just got a raise to 23,500. Rich |
Re: got an 80$ chk inthe mail today!
Rich, Nowdays being a teacher is just as dangerous as being a cop. The sad thing is look how long it will take your wife's college degree to pay itself off at $23,500/yearly w/ thousands of dollars in student loans. A Bachelors degree in Business only got me a 7.5% pay increase at the P.D. and I will be paying on my student loans for the next 8-9 years.
Guess I can't complain though. At least, I am fortunate enough to have a job. Knoxville ----------------------------------- 1969 Camaro RS/SS L-78 |
