Re: speaking of barn finds !!!

Its working its way there,i got the car running about 3 yrs ago in hopes to buy the car but the owner backed out on the deal the next day. Since that time ther is a pretty big hole in the sail panel under the vinyl top,eng bay is rusting away pretty much as the fender tag is almost gone,it sits on a dirt floor chained to a post in the ground!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

My friend had a '67 Mustang in high school and one night some one stole a '79 Mustang down the street. He was afraid that they were coming back to steal his car so he would chain his Mustang to a utility pole!!

Mr70 08-12-2005 03:58 PM

Re: speaking of barn finds !!!

I'll bet they stole the utility pole instead.

What a find! Is that a Hemi or a 440 car?

Never have figured out why people will just let any type of car rot away out in the back yard. Makes no sense, oh well!
Good luck with the capture, hell with it running, tow it home!!

Sweeten the offer – whatever it takes!!

Save that car before the shed comes crashing down or there is nothing left.

are you talking about that bird in the second pic? its setting chained on a dirt floor?

DaJudge 08-14-2005 03:49 PM

Re: speaking of barn finds !!!

The bird looks like it's sitting on a concrete floor to me, cool find

scott s 08-14-2005 06:39 PM

Re: speaking of barn finds !!!

Its a dirt floor sad to say, the owner wants more $$$ for the car every time u ask him and it just keeps rusting away every year it sits. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif I know being the orig owner of any car its an emotional attachment but hey when your 60-65 years old,bad health,no money, and don,t drive the car i think maybe he should open his eyes. p.s no offense to the older generation intended https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Wow man, you are scary, You WANT the city to come take your car because someone ELSE thinks it's for the betterment of the city to take it out of your yard????

You seriously need to rethink your position on that one!

Correct, and I agree, but I also agree that it's their car! I can't control what they do with it or when they do it.

WHAT I CAN DO, is talk to them once in a while, not tick them off, and make sure they know I'm interested in the car. I've bought more than a couple cars this way, no big scores yet, but there's a couple irons in the fire...

I mean no disrespect to anyone, but that is one of the ugliest cars ever made. OK, I will admit it. I do mean disrespect to the car. I am sure there is some Ford guy out there that thinks a 69 Camaro is ugly. We are all entitled to our opinions.

How about a 1969 Z/28 that was sitting in a backyard for about many years. Motor in the basement and the Muncie rotting away in the weeds. The car body was restored about 12 years ago and put back in the SAME SPOT! Car is still there rotting away AGAIN! Muncie is still in the same spot it was over 20 years ago. Owner will not sell. It is his car but it's ashame to see it sit and rot.

Nils,
Yes and he will not sell. Soon as we get out of the car he sticks his head out and says it's not for sale. We leave to return another day.

Not bursting any bubbles, Last time I saw the car was back in the Mid 70's. I know it was Purple/White Convt Top/White Interior/440-6 pak with 4 speed/Hood had the twin scoops and the rear had the tail stripe which I want to say had the bumble bee in it but it might have been the R/T lettering instead. Same guy had all kinds of Mopar engines in the garage from 340/440/Hemis. He picked up a 70 Challanger for was was said to be $100 after it fell off the Train car on the way to the dealership. This was the guy to go to if you wanted Mopar parts or to find out where to get them from Rockford to the Mississippi.
Neat guy to talk to no matter the car make though!

I liked the 1971 Mach "I" that was in the James Bond movie, "Diamonds Are Forever". Like Dave said, this body style is not for everyone. There were some really good chase scenes in that movie! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

A friend of mine used that movie to restore his Mach 1 undercarriage. He had a video shop take certain frames out of the movie when the car was up on two wheels. It is neat what you can learn from movie stills...............RatPack...............
