Old SW Gagge Question

Anyone ever seen old Stewart Warner Gages like these? Were these ever a dealer installed option? Or just a hotrodder add-on? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, i think I've seen a set or 2 of those... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif They are known as "greenline" SW gauges... Yenko used them in his cars, but they were also widely sold in speed shops, etc... They were never installed at the factory. Wanna sell em? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Joe, I see a few copies of the SS-396/Camaro 45 record on the shelf as well. SS-396 is a pretty neat song, but the Camaro one is kind of lame. "For get about your Hemi's and your GTO's, I got a new machine and she really goes, when I pass you on the drag strip, you'll know darn well. You've been beaten by a porcupine, V8 Chevelle. Cruisin the highway, I get my kicks, nothing can touch my SS 396." Nice collection...anything for sale???????????????????????

And I thought this thread might answer the original question about the SW gauges - it was a honest inquiry.

Gezzz....you guys should get out more https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Re: Old SW Gagge Question

Thanks for the reply, just wondered about the gages. They belong to my father, he has the three shown and the vacuum gage and all seem to work.

He tells some story about a 63 Impala SS 4 speed car that he had these in... sold it because of one of his kids being born a long while ago and kept the gauges for sentimental reasons.

And yes, I am likely older than those in previous posts, not that it matters.

Kip - You're a Spring Chicken compared to some of the guys around here....including myself.

As has been mentioned, keep the gauges 'cause down the road you might find a car worthy of them. When you do, you'll see your Daddy smiling at you every time you look at them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: Old SW Gagge Question

Thanks for the advice. At this time I am lucky to still have Dad smiling at me but someday these gauges may be mine. Til then they'll be in his garage with other old Chevy stuff.

I think they'd be just fine in my 70 SS 396 convertible then. 'Til then I'll stick with the factory gauges and a few supplemental Autometers.

Thanks again, have a good day.
