steering box rebuild

Does anyone know of where I can get a seal kit for my manual steering box for my 1970 ls6?

I rebuild Mopar and GM manual boxes. If you are interested in a complete box, restored, I can set you up. If you simply want the seals, I can get you those as well. $25 for the seals.

Casey,
What do you charge for re-building manual steering boxes? I am haveing some leakage from mine and may be interested in getting this done soon.

Ditto! Package deal?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: steering box rebuild

$250 rebuilding yours or $300 without a core (I supply the box). They are completely rebuilt and powdercoated cast iron with new seals and replated fasteners and spanner nut. If you have a rag joint that goes with the box, I can get that re-plated as well for an additional $25.

That package deal sounds good. Mine is also leaking.

Re: steering box rebuild

I tell you what, if you guys can drum up (5) boxes, I will do them for $225 each. When you consider that junk boxes are fetching $100 on 'daBay, I think it's a pretty good deal. And if you want your rag joint plated -- $20 ea. (assuming we get together 5 boxes).

I'll leave it up to y'all to come up with the boxes, and we can take it from there. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

PS - This is also assuming that the boxes that get sent to me don't look like they've been in the bottom of the ocean for 30 years........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: steering box rebuild

It turns out I have a power steering box, not a manual. I need a manual box if anyone has one. I can pay for and have it shipped directly to Casey for rebuild. Thanks Wes

Here's some shots of boxes that I did for Dan Jensen. These are for both AMC and GM, as AMC used Saginaw gear for their supplier as well. A little dark, but you get the idea.

The NCRS Restorer that I received two weeke ago has a very detailed article about rebuilding the steering boxes in Corvettes. I'm sure much information is the same.

Re: steering box rebuild

Sounds good Wes. I'm just waiting on the other "participants" .......

drdave69 08-04-2005 03:47 PM

Re: steering box rebuild

So, how many "participants" does that make? I would still need to pull my box out of the car.

DarrenX33 08-04-2005 04:24 PM

Re: steering box rebuild

I'm in if you don't mind me waiting to pull my box out when I put the car away for winter...

Re: steering box rebuild

I have a used manual steering box off a 70 396 Nova. Seems like it was a really early build, like aug or sep of 69. I remember comparing it to my manual box from my Aug of 69 built Z/28 and wondering why they were different, seeing that the subframes were the same.

Anyone interested send me a PM. I have no use for it. $50 plus actual shipping.

Lynn

Casey,
My response is the same as Darrens. I'm in if you don't mind me waiting to pull my box out when I put the car away for winter... If that does not qualify then I guess I have to pay the extra.
Thanks!!

I know this is about manual boxes, but what about power boxes?

Casey Marks 08-08-2005 07:12 PM

Re: steering box rebuild
