Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
Sent the kids to grandma's yesterday. Left the house at 0-dark-hundred this morning with the wife (who was NOT happy) to go to Mississippi and pick up the Z. Stopped by granny's on the way home and picked up the rugrats, then on home. My wife said she felt like Sanford and Son. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
In any case, it is way HOT here today (Good ole' nawlins) so I just slid er off the trailer and am waiting for it to cool off. I took a few quick pics with the PDA, once it cools I'll make a few more with the real camera. Also, the Trim Tag is a X-33 (no D80) and there was no rear spolier on the car. I know the cowl hood was an option (this one has the flat hood) but I guess the spoiler was as well? Any thoughts? http://www.69lm1.com\69rsz\photo_16.jpg |

DZ stamping on the carb. Found the base for the air cleaner in the trunk.
Edit: (guess this one is a bit blurry, I'll take a better one later) http://www.69lm1.com\69rsz\photo_19.jpg |

There's nothing like a project to get your blood flowing again! That one's mint compared to this old thing I found in 1981 in a junkyard! Enjoy the project and give us more autopsy photos as you take them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
This one's a project all right!
It is unusual in that it was rusting from the top down, rather than the other way. It is awesome to find a 38k mile survivor. It even still has the am radio in it. Interior is all there and in good shape relatively speaking. Floor boards are solid. As soon as it cools off, I'll go look some more. |

No, That was my first foray into 71 Cuda Convertibles. It was a 71 383, automatic ragtop. I traded a 72 Vega that my neighbors abandoned in my yard for it. (With my luck it probably turned out to be a Yenko Stinger Vega https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif) The Cuda was abandoned by an Air Force Guy at Lowry Air Force base in Denver in the early 1980s and was towed to this lot. All original drivetrain intact, but from Rochester NY originally = salt. It even had the title in the glove compartment! Here's the finished product in 1985. It was far worse than the Z28 pictured above: when you sat in the driver's seat, your feet were flat on the pavement below, Flintstone-style.

Re: Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
OK,
Lots of emails and PM's on this car, Here's the scoop. Everyone is throwing numbers around, I will give the SERIOUS buyers 1 shot at it, otherwise, I might give it 1 shot on ebay, then I will tear it down and restore it myself then sell it. There is a non # match, non RS Z-28 on ebay right now in several pieces, mismatched. Item number: 4560895432 It is at 11,000.00 and still has an hour to go. We all know what this car will be worth once done, so I would be willing to part with it for $14,500.00. There are several of you throwing around numbers, and frankly I don't remember who was first, and who started low and went up as the other guys did. If you are serious, call me on my cell. First person to CALL ME FIRST , then paypal me a non refundable 1,000.00 deposit on the 14,500.00 purchase price buys themselves this very original but RUSTY Z-28 RS. Re: Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
Thr trailer? They make those in MS as well! Great price, $1,400.00 complete, air brakes, ramps and all. That trailer has seen some states and carried some cars.

I take my trials as they come, and my coupe is one currently, but that rust looks like to be QUITE a battle!
I wish the best to whomever accepts this car's needs! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Is this person from Florida a member of the board?
Why doesn't he step forward to accept our praises? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Got pos feedback too!) It's actually not as bad as it looks (The Z). The Olympic Gold LM1 that we are doing is MUCH worse, although it looks great on the outside, it needs BOTH rockers, FULL floor, Both Wheel Wells (inner and outer), and a full trunk. This Z, while she is butt ugly on the outside, is actually pretty good in the structural areas, rockers, floor pans (only 1 has some small holes) wheel wells, frame rails etc. I don't know if the new owner is on this board, or just the camaros.net board, or both. But, if he wants to speak up, that's up to him. There was some intense interest in this car. It is always interesting to see who gets involved in a potential sale, and then see the comments afterwards. Some people feel like they have to call and make neg comments, then make low-ball offers. Others, call after a deal is done, with the "I would have given you more" statements. Bottom line to me, I bought the car to restore then resell. I just invested in a garage (Penn's Auto and Cajun Supercars) and have the time and manpower there to complete it at my leisure. I mentioned this on this site, and then several people started asking about buying the car before I restored it. Fair enough, so I threw out a number. That was a number that made it worth my while to not take on the project. I threw the number out and had the website with good pics up by 10:30pm or so (not hiding anything, all bad areas had DETAILED pics posted), and the car sold at 00:30 that same night. New owners happy, I am happy, old owner is happy. Everyone wins. New owner had a 69 yellow Z in high school, now he has this one. BTW- I was told that there is a yearly fee to be a member, I guess I paid a year ago and that subscription expired. This site is VERY much worth it, I just resubscribed. Thanks, Rich |

Re: Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
Hello Rich-
I was reading a thread over on the Camaro website, you were going to look at a 70 Nova (SS?). Just wondering if you have any updates or comments on it....... Thank you- ktownkid |
Re: Picked up the 69 RS Z-28 this morning
Turned out to be a "clone". Small block heater core, 10 bolt rear, only ss badge was on the grill. Had alot of putty in it as well. Was not running when I got there. She still claimed that it was a BB originally and that the heater core and rear were changed. I took a pass.
I do have a line on a 69 SS396 Chevelle though. I'll post more on it when I get some pics. Rich |
