Auto Transport

Has anybody heard of Dependable Auto Shippers in Calf!!!

SamLBInj 07-07-2005 11:40 PM

Re: Auto Transport

Yup,They broker it out.. Bought a 40 ford deluxe coupe from Southern cal, they shipped it, was supposed to be closed trailer, came in an open trailer, nasty dirty condition when it arrived and driver door was ripped off, guy said it blew open. Yea, right, That would be physically impossible unless he were doing 60 in reverse. Finally got him to admit that he was screwing around with the car and was backing up with door open and hit something as he was using this car for his own transportation when he took a break from driving...took 8 months for there insurance company to settle...good luck...

Here's another opinion on Dependable:

Its down near the end of the thread. By the way if anyone is looking for a new VW Diesel the guy mentioned in the thread offers good deals. I bought one from him.

Re: Auto Transport

Dependable SUCKS....stay away...when you get it there it will be filthy .....it will probably come to a terminal near you and then go on a flatbed....worst service I have ever seen...Intercity,Concours or Road Scholars are the best IMO

Ok Kim, I have to know, what kind of car are you waiting for? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I have used Town and Country in the past, with no problems at all. Great communication and I was in constant contact with the driver at all times.

Re: Auto Transport

same here, not worth saving a few bucks, took about 30 days for my '67 to come from Hesperia Cal to Seattle, I was a fricken wreck by the time it got here...it showed the next day after I left voice messages to all parties involved I was reporting the car stolen and naming everyone I had talked to at the Co. ...saving 500 bucks at the time looked like a smart move..never again.

Don't get your panties in a a wad; I'm gettin' there as quick as I can. The damned thing doesn't have any tags on it so I'm using all the country, gravel and dirt roads I can find to get to I-O-A!
If you lived in a REAL state I would have been there already!

Great find Kim! On this 31 Hiboy, what kind of documentation came with the car, since it was on Happy Days, and is a little bit different than a muscle car when it comes to paperwork? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Auto Transport

Many transport companies turn out to be just brokers. They take your money, usually, a low price, and then try to find a truck driver willing to transport your car.

I did a story last year about a company called "Moving My Car.Com", also called Southerland Auto Transport. Hundreds of complaints,.enough, so that the Feds indicted the owner Billy Southerland accusing him of violating several federal statutes. He was convicted in March of this year and sentenced to federal prison. The feds allege he took thousands of customers and shipped very few cars.

My advice, deal with the transport company directly and make sure they have federal licenses, insurance, bonding, etc. You'll pay more but you'll sleep easier at night. There are several large companies now, one I think owned by FEDEX, that are in the classic car transport business. Do your homework, after all, if you love your classic, especially the classics on this board, then paying for the right transport is really inexpensive.

I just got off the phone with your transport company and they are dropping the car off here in a day or so. They said I could drive it for at least a week before they had to take it to the next stop. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Auto Transport

If your car is worth at least 2K,.then it is. Try suing an out of state truck driver, using someone else's out of state rig, with little if any cargo insurance, and no bonding, for the door ripped off your pride and joy and the hundreds of miles he put on your car while showing off to his friends back home.

I'll pay the 2k,.and most times, a lot less, to make sure my car gets to me in great shape while driven by a responsible professional working for a licensed, bonded, and insured company.
