E-Town cruise: reminder

Tomorrow night (May 10th) is the first Tues night cruise-in at Englishtown Raceway Park. They claim they'll let people have a free pass down the 1/4.
I don't know how it's going to turn out, but since it's the first one, and the weather is supposed to be great, I think I'll take the '09 and see what happens.

Verne.

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

How many cars were there?
And did you get a postcard advertisement for the
2005 Northeast Factory Stock Drag Race?? July 30th?

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

It was ok. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
I'd say maybe 250 cars, lots of early muscle plus a bunch of street rods, some modern, some retro. About 50 cars took advantage of the one free pass offer. Beautiful Lemans Blue '69 Z-28 went 11.8, but it sounded like a big block. A few very nice '69 and '70 Chevelles. A nicely restored 500KR was more interested in smoking his bias plys 3/4 of the track. Ran a 16.8, but I guess he had fun. My favorite car was an original paint, unrestored '57 Plymouth Belvedere with a hemi. He ran a 14.8. It was https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif They had a 4x4 play area with concrete blocks and a couple crushed cars to romp on. The women seemed to love that for some reason.
Everything was free, except the $5. hamburgers.

It was fun!

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

For the price of 10 hamburgers, you could've bought yourself a digital camera. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
I would've liked to seen what you did Verne. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Yeah, I'm behind the times I guess. We don't even have cable in the house, and you saw the rotary phone in the kitchen... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif (you know, when you were picking up Frank's sign)

More rare cars there: A '63 Olds full size, and a '66 and 69 Grand Prix.......ALL factory 4-spd cars! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

I didn't notice the rotary phone, probably because the candle was burning out.
Did you take your 09 there & if so what happened?

Yes, Janet and I went in the '09, but I didn't race it. No headers, 4.56 or slicks on it anymore, so what's the point?

Besides, we had to leave early to go buy more candles............ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif

Huh!?! The point? How 'bout 'fun', ya don't need headers, a big gear or slicks to run the 1320 - we do all it all the time; aka "Pure Stock is the way to Rock". We want to see you at the E-Town factory/f.a.s.t. event https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

gonzo,
I was not able to reply to your PM. I did not receive a postcard for any upcoming race. There was a young girl there handing out flyers for some Ford event, but that's all.

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

Thanks for the heads up Verne, because at first E-town told me they did hand out postcards for the upcoming Factory Stock Drags.....but then later changed the story to handing them out at the Mopar Atlantic Nationals.

I have supplied them with 500 more postcards that they say they will hand out at the next Cruise night

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

Well, I guess June 7th is the next one, right? I'll try to be there. I'll look for the postcards....

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

Verne did you go to the last e-town cruise night?

And did you see any postcards for the July 30th Muscle car race??

Verne_Frantz 06-16-2005 06:20 PM

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend that one. I'll miss the July one too, since I'll be at an annual Chevy convention in Princeton that day.

Re: E-Town cruise: reminder

I heard the last one was a big success, and they are going to have to limit the amount of cars that go down the track for free. They are expecting this July event to be huge!!
