Re: Cars needed for Collection
Jeff, I'll call about the car today. If you see that yllw BB please give me contact info or have the owner email me. Might give a whole new meaning to "shipping cost". Man am I jealous of your gig. Drinking Mai Tai's and walking to the mail box at the first of the month!

Re: Cars needed for Collection
How about a 69 Camaro hugger orange Diamond certified COPO It recieved Vettefest Gold spinners a couple of times and I think it recieved 957 points on its Diamond certification. Probably one of the best restored COPO Camaro out there but also priced accordingly. If interested please send me a Email at [email protected]

Do the cars you want, have to be Rare? or just Nasty Nice https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif [/ QUOTE ] Mike the cars I collect are based on a few principles: 1. Fiqure out how your gonna get out of it, before you get in it! While many times our plan doesn't include selling something we have wanted and waited for, things change and that time eventually comes. The thrill of searching for or building that special car is better than finally obtaining it (doesn't apply to cars with emotional involvement i.e. DarrenX33). 2.ALWAYS buy the BEST quality restored vehicle you can! Even if you do some or all of the work yourself, your time is worth something. Any body who has bought a car and paid for restoration knows its like building a house. You start with a budget but before its finished your 20% or more over. You can't get the project from point A to point B for the difference. 3. NEVER EVER buy or build a Street Rod! These are built with a desire to be different, not to appeal to the masses. And they don't! Every auction I've been to has loads of these cars that guys have spent 90k on, and are now lucky to get 50k. 4.Always buy cars that have a history of collectibility, i.e 1970 chevelles. There were over 50,000 of the 396ss cars built and there value is steadily increasing. Tri five cars are another example. 5. Cars that have a long production run make the next generation aware of them and this creates a tie to early production. Mustangs, Camaro's, Firebird's and Corvettes are all good examples. The short production run of the early GTO and a body style with no link to the past is the reason for the new GTO's poor showing. 6. Always buy limited production high horepower cars that sold well when they were new! If they were popular then, chances are good they be popular later. Now go out and order your 06 Corvette ZO6 and 06 Shelby Mustang GT500. Didn't mean to pontificate. Just wanted to answer your question completely and give some insight as to why I would want these particular cars. |
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Ralph,
Sure I'm interested. Send me an email or pm with info on car Thanks, Howard |

Howard, I sent you an email about a LS-6 car listed locally. James [/ QUOTE ] I went and looked at the car the first day it was in the trader. If it was what it was advertised as I would have bought it... it is far from the ad. The car has a 66 Corvette 427 390 and some one got crazy on the stamp pad with a die grinder and the ole mans number stamps. That is the least of what was wrong... when I asked the guy for the build sheet he brought out a photocopy when asked about the original..he didn't know if he could find it or not. |
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Would this happen to be a Lakewood Black Cherry LS-6,with the last two digits being 08?
|
Re: Cars needed for Collection
The guy says the car has been sold. Here is how the car was listed.
James 1970 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS 454 LS 6 4 SPEED, 410 POSI TRACTION. 22,000 ORIGINAL MILES. BLACK, WHITE STRIPES, BLACK INTERIOR. HAVE BILLING SHEETS. CLASS A TITLE. $35,000 FIRM. |
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Car had mostly original paint but a tool box that was in the trunk had slammed in to the 1/4's and dented them out on both sides, it had a Hurst shifter installed and the console had been cut with a hacksaw. He said he bought the car at Padget Chevrolet in downtown Greenville but the build sheet showed City Chevrolet in Charlotte as the dealer.(he had an elaborate explanation) I asked him where he found the original build sheet... he couldn't answer the question...he just found it. The car had ladder bars and side pipes.(Day 2 really cool) It was probably worth in the $20,000 range... He insisted that the motor was original, even though it had a cast iron intake, a quadrajet, 66 casting dates, and the messed up stamp pad, if you could have found the original engine it might have been worth more but he wouldn't admit to anything, the cowl induction air cleaner was also gone, and it had rust through on the drivers 1/4.
It was probably 22k original miles but they may have been 1/4 mile at a time! |
Re: Cars needed for Collection

|
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Thanks njsteve, but I'm not currently colecting pace cars.
I do have interest in a Hemi Charger RT/SE, know of any? |
Re: Cars needed for Collection
How many of these cars have you aquired thus far? Any pics?
|
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Frank I've added 4 cars since my post about cars I was looking for.
68 Camaro SS 396/350- Triple Black - wasn't looking for this car, but a buddy of mine wanted out and it had vintage air which is mighty important here. 69 Boss 429 - mentioned in previous post - Triple Black 70 Chevelle LS6 - Black Cherry/White interior (can't ever have too many of these) 1963 Corvette Coupe Fuelie - Red w/black interior All 4 Spds. I'm very close on 2 other cars (1)1967 Shelby GT500-Nightmist Blue and (2) 1967 Covette Convertible 427/435 Red w/black interior (can't go wrong with a few of these either). Thanks for your interest. I will post some pics. as time allows. My 9-5 is starting to get in the way but it's what keeps this ship afloat! |
Re: Cars needed for Collection
Is there photos of all these cars? Sounds like your really putting together quite a collection!

Howard:
There is an LS-6 Corvette on e-bay currently. It is a real car, with documentation, HOWEVER the seller is NOT representing the car correctly. If your considering this car, let me know and I can fill in some information. Warren |
LS6 'Vette? Casey, you listening??
