Hood Insulation

I don't remember for sure if my '70 Deuce is supposed to have insulation on the underside of the hood or not. I don't think that it should have it but I would like to hear from some folks who know for sure. Does anyone have a good answer on this item?
Many thanks in advance.

Alan I like you, bought mine new. It was sold out of Rapids chev in Cedar Rapids Ia.It did not have underhood insulation. I also never say never, as there are some exceptions to the rule ocassionally. Schonye

Schonye https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif,
Thanks for refreshing my memory on this. I didn't think my car had the insulation so I am going to remove the insulation that the guys at the shop had installed there.

No original deuces found have had hood insulation.

Thanks Marlin,
I thought that I remembered that the hood was just plain underneath, kind of like everything else on our cars except for the power that makes all of them run fast. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

I very much understand you quote about the car being a part of your youth, a part of your being. I can relate to that on a personal level. Owning a deuce now is cool, but owning one back then was something special. I bet you won way more races than you lost, and beat a lot of cars with way more cubes.
Mr Howie, I remember what happened 35 years ago just fine. Yesterday though, can be a problem. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

I can remember out racing almost every Ford or Mopar that challenged and even a 70 Chevelle with a big block( maybe he didn't know how to drive it. I even beat a guy on a souped up motorcycle from a standing start. Ahhhh, those were the good ole days. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Yep. It sure was fun to do those great burnouts with gas that cost 30cents a gallon and the E-70 wide ovals for $20 each. You just had to be sure not to get on it too much if the road was wet because these 4.10 posi's can really get squirrley if you do. I saw a '70 Chevelle get sideways into the grass median when he was trying to race me on a wet section of road. Fortunately, neither he or his car got hurt other than his pride. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Yep, that looks like one of them. They just got no style without the stripes and where would you mount a hood style tachometer on one of those things. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Hey Belair...That is the original Michigan Madman. The radio stations used to yell "SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, see the Michigan Madman smoke the tires the entire length of the strip". I saw him once. Gave me goosebumps.

Mad Man Muntz from Missouri widing a small block powered bike was at the local track in the mid 60's and the motor didn't kill at the end of the track...he went off through the pines. Didn't get hurt too bad. Now that would have been a wild ride.

Would that be Mid America (MAR) in Wentzville? You start over the hill at the traps, then you gotta make a hard left...used to be part of a road coarse (now is the return road), and it literally wound around through the woods, with trees on the shoulder of the road! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif
