Check out this guys webpage.
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/295985/1 Is this Camaro considered Baldwin Modified or Baldwin/Motion Modified? https://www.yenko.net/attachments/133...dwinmotion.jpg |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Holy Chit...poor car...lucky guy...
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Yeah I saw that a while back and was going to start up a thread about it. I'm pretty sure the owner is a member here.. How about some history? Do you know which B/M Camaro that is? Was there any old features of it in original condition?

Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
That's Mike----(Motion Camaro).....
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Hmmm, it lists the headers(loose). Does that mean the car was sold with the stocke exhaust manifolds and smog? And the buyer had to intsall headers and connect the exhaust? Cool paperwork. Did any of the supercar dealers sell cars with headers installed or was that illegal?
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Cars were delivered from Baldwin Chevrolet to Motion with stock exhaust and smog intact--Headers were installed at Motion.....
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
So this is considered a Baldwin-Motion Camaro yes?
Is this how the papers looked,or were there receipts from Motion Performance as well? I have never seen paperwork on them,so I am asking. |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
That's the Baldwin Chev. invoice Rick showing the car as being sold new---there is even a trade-in involved, so he had to go thru Baldwin--The options are listed on the invoice. If you went thru Motion you would get documentation on PhaseIII's--. The other cars that had some mods or just an engine conversion would have gotten a work order. This would be a B/M Camaro.

Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Pretty Cool...Might hold it's own at SCR8 drags.....
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
I still want to know what the car looked like originally https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
There's a link in the first message of this thread... follow that to see a picture of it in a magazine ad.
Also is this area of the forum there has been one or 2 threads already about this car from back in the day. Seems strange that if the owner is here on the board that he doesn't ever speak up when the subject arises... I guess he likes to keep it on the down-low https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Very cool car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed

I have been working on this project a long time & can't wait to finish. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif I was trying to get it ready for the Holley Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green this June. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif Don't think the car will make it, but I will. Anyone into real nostalgia racing should show up there, It's a great weekend, with great people. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Very Nice Camaro & paperwork Mike.
Can you bring it to Collinsville Sept. 2-3 for SCR8? |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
So this is "Motion Camaro"'s car... from previous messages by "560CID68", he has a similar car... with similar paperwork...
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
I think these cars are two different Camaros.
Their invoices are not exact. http://image03.webshots.com/3/8/36/8...9ypzKVM_ph.jpg |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Ah... but they were sold by the same salesperson https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
BTW---unless you've viewed that image before, you will have to copy & paste it into the browser... http://image03.webshots.com/3/8/36/8...9ypzKVM_ph.jpg |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Here is a similar invoice from 560CID68.
I would imagine Dave Bean sold a few cars in his day. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9ypzKVM_ph.jpg |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Hey, I have an idea.

I don't think this is the same car from the ad and previous threads.. That was about the "mindbender" B/M Camaro which is an RS. This car that's all tubbed and tube framed out isn't an RS. Motion Camaro.. do you have any old pics of your car?? Just curious if it was ever featured in original condition in one of the old CARS issues or something. What was the original colors and options it had? |

[/ QUOTE ] Here are the original options -> https://www.yenko.net/attachments/133...dwinmotion.jpg This car was an original R/S - S/S. I talked to the original owner & he took off the disc brakes & R/S parts because they weighed too much. The car has been off the street (legally) since 1971. Also: The old frame was exactlly where the reverse light used to be. Now that I put in a tube chassis (19"wide), I can put them back in if I want to. |

Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Ok.. that explains what happened to the RS stuff on it.. but is this THE "mindbender" car from all the old ads and magazine articles thats shown on this thread? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...0/fpart/1/vc/1
Or is this Camaro one of the unknown ones that came out of B/M? MotionCamaro.. what's the history of your car that you know? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Mike, after you answer Ed---How is the EFI working out and what is that quick start feature on the Tech 3----

Ed,
Mine is one of those unknown ones. The paint on it is original. As far as I can tell there were never any stripes. It only has 27,000 miles on it. (68->71) The original owner said he put the headers, removed the before mentioned equiptment & a set of slicks & went 10.30's |

Joe,
I'm still wiring up the car for the EFI. Gonna put the motor back in next week & see if I did a good job. The quick start feature is the initial program of the TEC3. Put in cyl, fuel, inj. size , HorsePower, etc. The ECU gives it a start mode to idle. All done on a windows screen. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Motion MIke
Was this the car Mark Timken owned at one time?? |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Have to ask about the mirrors, who installed them.
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Does all the cars skin/paint look like that photo clip you showed Ed-----Looks great and it's all original?....
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Whitetop,
The car was purchaesed from the original owner (James ...) by a freind of a freind. He only had the car a month & wanted the Pro-Street Vega I was driving at the time. Since I was looking for a little heavier car then, (the Vega was a Super Gas car I put on the street & was so light that things broke at every pothole), & he wanted to go racing, we swapped rolling chassis. |

Here is a picture (of a picture) when I used to street drive & show the car back in the late 80's early 90's. I worked for a dealer, so I got tags to drive the car to the shows when I needed. |
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Do you have any plans to return the car to stock or are you leaving it as a Pro-Street car? It looks like there has been considerable money invested in it but, being it is a real Motion Camaro I would think it might be worthwhile to restore it. (Just my opinion)
|
Re: 1968 Baldwin Camaro Tubbed & Tubed
Not just a real Motion Camaro, but a Baldwin/Motion Camaro https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

(Just my opinion) [/ QUOTE ] Looks like it would be a substantial amount of work to put it back to original condition. Right now looks like Mike is having fun with the car just the way it is and he's already got the docs. to prove its heritage. If it were mine I'd have fun with it for awhile the way it is but at the same time be hording away parts as they come along to return it back to the way it was in early 1969 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
