409 Stahl headers

I need to find an old set of 1 7/8" Stahl headers for a 409. Condition: usable, not modified. All leads appreciated, with finder's fee.

Thanks

Re: 409 Stahl headers

Bob,
I appreciate the offer https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif I have a couple of those heavy-weights already. If I was doing a nostalgic car for display, they'd be perfect! But the car I'm doing doesn't need the extra 50lbs on it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Actually, I think I have one of those things in Aluminum too..about an 1" thick. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

(are you going to York?).

Re: 409 Stahl headers

Verne...this one says ANSEN on both pieces cast in...the bottom piec says NHRA approved and Ansen cast in...Rick...it's not really for sale or I would have priced it...thought maybe Verne could use it but it looks like he has a couple of the damn things...

Re: 409 Stahl headers

I'm changing my request to TWO INCH Stahls, rather than 1 7/8". Had a talk with my engine man.
Thanks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 409 Stahl headers

I like that word Bob. I use it all the time.
But, they shouldn't be "that" rare. Stahl has been making headers off and on for years for the "new" nostalgia drag cars that keep being built, even some "street" cars with big ideas. I'm just trying to save the $700.-$800. a new set costs by finding a used set.
The common belief with '09s is that "bigger is better". It isn't true, but don't try to tell that to the guy who just gave Lamar Waldon $30,000. for an engine. The engine I'm planning won't be bigger than 424cid, but I'm going to buzz it.

Re: 409 Stahl headers

No...I had a beautiful 64 SS low mile car that was a 327 4 speed car...I found the buildsheet in the back seat to this car...it had been converted to a 409 so I pulled it...bored and stroked it, roller rockers, can't remember what cam, Hooker header, finned valve covers with a pair of Carter Competition series and a billet dual quad air cleaner......silver with a black "vinyl" and completely original interior....it was pretty cool...it went out east I think...

Re: 409 Stahl headers

Interesting........ I've never seen that car out my way. But, many years ago at one of the E-town swap meets there was a silver SS, black interior, black vinyl top car for sale, minus engine and trans, but the clues indicated it was a 327 4-spd car. Don't know where it went.

Verne
By the way, I have a new set of those Hooker Super Comps hanging on the wall, but I don't think I'll be using them.
