The Z sounded real sweet with the chambered exhaust. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

The one with the "Caution Fan" sticker for that perfect expert touch...

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Charlie,

Given Ducadnet's ability to be injured by the cars on the stage Ala "The intimigator Camaro attack" from three years ago... and the proximity of the general public under the hood and an idling engine- a removable "caution fan" sticker is probably not a bad idea. Where there is an injury of any type a Lawyer is not too far behind.

Anybody look at car #418 the dusk blue Z28 with crossram and 4 wheel disc brakes? They don't give much info in the description but it sounds like a non original DZ302 in it and they don't mention JL8 brakes but do say 4 wheel disc. It should be coming up soon.

Chris396 04-03-2005 05:18 AM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Looks like every Z/28 at auction has a crossram.

Jeff H 04-03-2005 05:21 AM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Hmmm, #418 didn't sell for too much($56K) so I guess it wasn't original.

Nice cars went across the block last night, especially the Carolina Blue 1970 Chevelle LS6 and the 68 Motion Vette. I was kind of surprised what they actually sold for.

MosportGreen66 04-03-2005 07:38 PM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

$95K for the Motion Vette
$105K for the Carolina Chevelle
$1.6 million for the 1953 Buick

Steve Shauger 04-03-2005 07:41 PM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

I agree the blue LS6 went for more than the Motion vette, that seems odd...

Mr. T 04-03-2005 08:06 PM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Wasn't the 68 Motion Vette the one TRM was trying to sell sometime ago?

MosportGreen66 04-03-2005 08:20 PM

yes. Owner is Dave Belk

Another car that blew me away was $510K for a shelby recreation.

[/ QUOTE ]Came to $553K with the 8% Buyer Premium but hey, Who's counting when you get into them digits?? I bet Charley's Real Super Snake would pull a Million at next years Scottsdale event!

Big difference is I believe Charley has all the DOCs to prove what it is!!!!!

I think the difference in the sales of the cars, was how they were promoted prior to the sale and again the paperwork for them.

How did the 68 L89 Vette #416 do? I see Jim had the Tank Sticker for the 68 L89 car showng the L89 option at the center top of the sticker https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Charley Lillard 04-03-2005 11:09 PM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

There was a 69 red Vette that was a supposed L89 but no paperwork talked about that only brought 49K.
As for the GT500E that sold for 510K... There was mention of some of the proceeds going to charity. It is a current car built by Unique Performance that probably has a MSRP of 130K. The bidders were both phone bidders. If I were Unique, what better way to pump up the value of my other cars is there than to show the world that one sells for 510K. I'm not saying that is what happened but who in their right mind would pay that kind of money for a 68 Mustang that has been built into a Shelby ?

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

If it was actually for sale, It would probably pull in the hemi cuda convertible range.

I did not see this 67 SS Conv., is there photos of this car to be seen?? Was it an L-78, can't imagine any other reason a 67 SS Conv. would take that money.

[/ QUOTE ]The Super Snake holds More Automotive Historical Significance than any Hemi Cuda. Documents are Nice. Many are Forged. Protect O Plate Makers available at Auctions. And I am certain the GT500E comes with a Folder Full of Carefully printed and Signed Papers including that World Famous Swirly Autograph of the Legend himself authorizing the Car. I saw the actual Footage of Carroll Shelby Burning up the Track in the Super Snake! Now That was Documentation at it's BEST! But I am Partial to Shelby products and this is admittedly a Biased opinion!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

There was some great buys, wonder if they really were great buys or was there something about them that wasent right. Also you don't know if these cars really did sell or did the sellers have to buy them back, becouse some sure did seem cheap in comparison to scottsdale. Howard Hughes car getting 1.5 mill....WOW, i would'nt have thought that car was that special. Craig Jackson was quoted as saying that Palm Beach has the potential to be even better than scottsdale, could very well be.

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Getting back to that RED 67 SS Convert. Chevelle... I am just blown away!!

Seriously.. I follow the price trends pretty close I think... on 66 and 67 SS Chevelles.. but I can't say that I have ever seen a 66 or 67 SS Chevelle SELL for that much money?? Has anyone else ever witnessed a price like that? Whether it be a Private Sale or ebay or Auction.. for a 66 or 67 SS I mean?

I'd love to hear about it. I did look at the photos of this particular car at the BJ site and yes, it appears to be a nice car, several restoration mistakes, but nothing crazy from what I can see.. but even if it was PERFECT, $132,000!

Anybody? Even with an auction and people letting the MOMENT get them carried away..what happened here, did anyone see the bidding on this?

Mike

I noticed much less negative comments from the Narrators. I would say almost to the point of ridiculous behaviour and actually over complimenting some cars that they normally would have shredded!! Of Course Craig Jackson likes Palm Beach!! He doubled his profits compared to last year. Got the East Coast Cash that can fly in easier to there than to Scottsdale. and did you see the Gals in those Bikinis???? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif Watermelon smugglers at their finest!! I am sure some High Rollers got treated to a Private audience with them....... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

God bless Steve Magnante. Every time the others threatened to go down some hole of innanity, they'd pull him in and he would politely redirect back to reasonable analysis of musclecar buying patterns. Also displayed impressive facts & figues knowledge of everything I saw. I sure hope he's in the mix for Scottsdale coverage next year.

Was surprised to see on Sunday when that '63 340hp/409 Impala ragtop brought more than the (apparently) documented TA Challenger 4sp, even if the TA was green/green. (And anyone who's read my postings knows I'm a lover of big early 60's muscle and not the biggest E-body fan.)

"God bless Steve Magnante"...Perfectly stated......

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Magnante's a pretty good model car builder too. His musclecar commentary on the B-J coverage made DeCadanet look like a dope. One noteworthy catch by Magnante was the Q-jet on the black '66 427 Corvette coupe (with the bypassed heater core and '67 Stinger hood and '67 wheels). I don't think DeCadanet understood the significance of a Quadrajet on a '66 427 Corvette.

Hi; 416 had the Tank Sticker. It was an Original #'s match car with original stamps, IU code. It had an Unhit body. Nicely optioned. I Consigned it for the Owner. I tried to attach a copy of the tank sticker here, but the file was too big. Any Ideas?. Jim

That system started out as two 2 1/2" chambered tubes with the 45 degree bends. The tranverse tubes were added and the balance of the system was custom bent. The 4 chambered parts were from a company called "Sweet Thunder"

I talked to the guy at Sweet Thunder about a 2-1/2" chambered system for my 69 JL8 car. How did you like the result of what he did for you? I didn't get to see the tv coverage from the auction so I didn't hear it.
Jeff.

If you're not gonna go dead nuts factory correct like the Gardner system, Pypes Performance Exhaust just came out with a 2.5" mandrel bent system that uses a transverse muffler...looks pretty good. CLICK HERE

hey thats cool!! I was just getting ready to duplicate that system with a flowmaster cross flow kit I have and there X pipe...oh boy! now I need to sell the flowmaster kit and get this one...DOH!

Don't feel bad, Bud, I've got the Flowmaster system on our Camaro and a repro chambered on the Nova, but now I'm wishing I woulda waited on the Pypes setup!

Jeff H 04-19-2005 06:45 AM

Re: Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

That will definitely be a possible option now. Since I'll be running the Stahl headers that look like the original GM style there's no way I'm running a stock exhaust on the car that will strangle the motor. I'm still leaning towards the 2-1/2 chambered but I have plenty of time to decide.
