Bell housing color
Getting ready to install my motor and trans..how much if any overspray (orange)is on the bellhousing?. Thanks

Re: Bell housing color
It is most common on the Corvettes to spray about 3-4 inches of orange on the bell housing closest to the engine block. I do not know if this is correct for the Chevelle too.

Re: Bell housing color
We do about 30-40% on the BB Novas. Can probably get a photo if you want to see it.

Are 69 Camaros the same?
Thanks. Lynn |
Re: Bell housing color
Lynn,
It doesn't matter what car the engine is in. All that matters is whether it's a Tonawanda or Flint engine. After the engines were test run, they were fitted with the final pieces, including flywheel, clutch assy and bellhousing, painted, then racked for shippment to the assembly plants. It's not uncommon to see the entrire bell painted, along with the clutch fork. Different days + different guys = different results. Verne |
Re: Bell housing color
We've seen everything from 1 inch to 6-8 inches painted on the Deuces, so pretty much anything goes!
|
Re: Bell housing color
Thanks Verne. All the 69 Z's I see had the entire bell housing painted. I believe all the 302's were flint engines.

Re: Bell housing color
My 621 housing was totally painted when I got it. Paint was flaky, and looked original, but who knows.
