I love this 69 COPO 9561, but I love all 69's. I wished they had painted it the original color, Olympic Gold, instetad of Garnet Red. You just don't see the Olympic Gold 69's that often. This COPO has been for sale for quite some time now, around 3-4 months. Before I attended BJ this year in January, the price was 170K, then jumped up to 180K after the auction ended.

This car has been discussed at length here before...

Tony,

Funny you should bring up Olympic Gold cars right now. I have been struggling with what to do with an early '69 LA Olympic Gold Camaro, one repaint, 327, TH350, parchment top, white std interior that is a 92K mile survivor. Being a solid CA vehicle it's whole life, I bought it to drop a big block in to, but I just don't have it in me to tear up such an original car, so there it sits. Even the AC still works. I think if I did not have the POP, it would already be "under the knife." I'm not really a fan of the color, but like you, I dig all '69's. I have listened to the board's opinions about hacking up original cars like this, so I am somewhat at a loss. What do you think? I can find another donor car. Put it on ePay?

Keep it original. I was thinking about putting a new motor in my 1970 Camaro but since it is so original and such a low mile car, with docs too, whats the point? I would keep the car original. Olympic Gold is a sweet color! I would restore the Camaro and keep it original!

Re: What do you think of this COPO Camaro?

I agree with what Dan just said. JB, I would keep your 69 Sport Coupe all original, but this is coming from a guy who likes his 69's all original, exactly the way they were "born". It really doesn't matter to me if it is a Sport Coupe, RS, SS, SS/RS, Z28, COPO, or Yenko, I would keep the car the original color.

I remember a few weeks ago there was an Olympic Gold 69 Sport Coupe on Ebay. Even though it didn't have the "sougt-after" options like I mentioned above, it was great to see that color. It too was a survivor, numbers matching car. All 3 of my 69's are painted the original colors, Garnet Red, Daytona Yellow, and Dover White.

In regards to you sliding in a big block, well, I wouldn't go that route. I would keep the original drivetrain intact. I assume your 69 is a numbers matching car, since you mentioned that it is a surivor. So, with that in mind, I would go shopping for an ex-drag car or another 69 that isn't a matching #'s car, and use that for the BBC engine.
You mentioned you have the POP, so that is even more of a reason to keep it in stock/original condition.
Have any pictures to share? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Hey, thanks for the heads-up! I was just curious how good this car was. This place often has nice cars but they usually go over the top with their descriptions. I knew you guys would know the real deal.

Definitely keep it original. Find a six cyl car, or ex drag car to go big block on. Just my opinion.

Re: What do you think of this COPO Camaro?

James, struggle no more. Leave that '69 Olympic Gold 327 car alone! There aren't many 327 '69 stockers as nice as yours anymore---at least I haven't seen many. Whitewalls, no spoilers, nice colors, original wheelcovers all make your car refreshingly different. Remove that rubber door-ding strip and you've got a really nice '69. I'd love to have that car, just the way it is. Find another '69 to do your rat-motor thing to. Cars like yours are more unusual by the day. Someday these grocery-getter stockers are going to get really desireable.

You can have a !TON! of fun with something like that. Put some 15x8 Cragars on the back and 15x4 cragars on the front, sun, SW, Dixco tach, traction bars, headers with a modern dual ehaust system. Just have some good 'ole fun with it! Great COLOR! She looks really clean!

Got to love the PO1's! Did your 69 ever have the DX1 stripe? Keep her original.
