COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

There was a very cool copo at super chevy this weekend here at No Problem raceway in Belle Rose, LA. Advertised as the lowest mile copo to exist. 753 miles, as the owner says "1/4 mile at a time"! This car was still in it's racing suit from 69! The dealer invoice, with the 9561AA RPO code for $489.75 was on a baord in front of the car.

I took some pics (Large Size) and threw them up on my site at www.nois.net/69copo

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

I saw it last Oct. at the musclecar show in Pigeon Forge, TN. Still has the factory Hurst and was wearing a pair of vintage slicks at the time. Glancing at the blue standard interior, I did a double-take at the 573 miles showing on the clock! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Talk about a true 'survivor'!

I've got some high-res motor shots if anyone wants to host them.

I wish I could have made that show just for that one car. That thing is awesome!

Sorry CoPoJoe! My microsoft server was down. I have never had any security related issues with the Novell or Linux servers. This is the second time for Billy G's system to get hit!

It is back up now.

This car was by far my favorite car at this Super Chevy. I love unrestored survivor cars!!!!

Neat car! But, if those are the original docs in that frame the guy is nuts... he should make photo copies and keep the originals in a safe place. Cool car, would love to see it run.

Thanks, We've got the hosting capacity, I just need to move them to one of the other servers (Like the linux server). So many of our customers "third" party designers "only" work in "frontpage" that it is a losing battle. Back in the day, you picked up a book and learned what you needed to make it work. Today, these young guys only want to "point and click". https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif
Anyway, what do I know? I am just a hard core networking geek that loves the first gens (and mabye a few second gens).
Working on these cars is a great way to blow off steam after dealing with client and employees all week long!

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

Guys !

I saw this car @ Pidgeon Forge last October as well. Other
than the fact that it is an original survivor ( WOW ), what
really amazed me about it was the fit of the passenger side
door to the fender. Look at that spacing. It's a mile !!!!

I understand that this car has never been touched. It came
from the factory that way. I just find it interesting that
when we see restored cars, they never look like that. I'm
just as guilty with my resotation.

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

Have to ask why does everyone keep saying radio delete, you either ordered a radio or didnt, It was not standard so was never deleted. Still one heck of a nice car just the same

I base my statements on my observations of the pics submitted; No Radio antenna hole in the fender!
I must assume!
If the owner would like to chime in , I'd LOVE to hear about it's history! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

What is the code on a COPO 4.56 geared rear?

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

I don't think they offered a COPO Special Heat treated 4:56 posi.
I would imagine they used Ring & Pinion Part #3917973 coded BW.

SuperNovaSS 03-17-2005 05:59 AM

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

Did it still get the HD posi? If so, wouldn't the rear be stamped with a different code?

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

Here is a pic of the dealer invoice
9511DT Rear Axle 456 Ratio - a whopping $42.15!

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

That's awesome! Original race car still in racing condition. Does anybody have any idea how many COPOs had 4.56 gears and did they get special rear codes? Do you know which dealer this car was original sold from, you can't see it on the window sticker in the pictures.

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

I was parked next to that car in Pigeon Forge and all I did was drool! Not sure if the wheels were the originals or not but they were repainted. Under the hood was mostly untouched as was about 99% of it. I did not get a single picture of that car while I was at that show last year but now I wish that I had. If you ever get a chance to talk with Johnny do so as he is an absolute true gentleman. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gifhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif...................RatPack............

Did anyone happen to get a pic of the POP?

I have the same question on the axle code....

Thanks!

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

This may be the answer..
Not a Factory 4:56 COPO Posi gear, but not the Std. 4:56 Posi either.
I'm still curious to know what suffix code a 1969 COPO Camaro rearend with a Dealer installed 4:56 gear would show?

From COPO.com:

SPECIAL EATON POSI CASE "234" and RING & PINION

The 1969 COPO Camaros, Chevelles and the 1970 Copo Novas had a special heavy duty Eaton posi case, which differed significantly from the 4-series production case. The parts are listed below:

3916234 Complete assembly

3918834 Spring Plate - heat treated

3957939 Spring 75lb. each (natural color)

3880140 Spider Gear (larger size)

3918831 Side (Axle) gear (16 teeth)

RING & PINIONS

3916226-3916228 4.10:1 (1969 COPO Camaros and Chevelles - 1970 COPO 9010).

<u>3862514-3862516 4.56:1 (It is believed that these gears were shipped loose and installed at dealership).</u>

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

Pic of the POP did not come out https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

You can see part of it (the POP), as well as the selling dealer, Brooks Chevrolet in one of the pics.

Also, the speedo was a 120mph. I thought the CoPo's had 140's?

Rich

drdave69 03-18-2005 03:44 AM

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

The 140 mph speedo was a separate COPO option (9737 I believe) that also included 15 inch wheels and larger swat bar.

I'm confused about the axle ratio. The window sticker cleary shows the 9511DT 456 ratio. Is this not included from the factory?

DaJudge 03-18-2005 06:16 AM

Re: COPO at Super Chevy this weekend

I was going to say the same thing the 4:56 is right on the window sticker. Could this be a one of one car ? Very cool. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
