Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your help!
Guys, I got this over at Camaros.net...
http://www.camaros.net/colton/ <font color="red">"When Lance Colton's father Shane was killed in Iraq last spring, the '68 Camaro they were restoring sat abandoned in the garage. That is, until the community got involved. They are assisting in restoring a project that had created a strong bond between father and son.</font> I'd encourage any and all to help out in any way possible... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your help!
Be nice Bud!! Everyone's been asked to give a lot lately with all the tsunami relief funds at work, church, car clubs, boy and girl scouts and, and, and... Also we have no way of knowing how many folks have given directly to the "Colton Camaro" fund via snail mail. We've also been sending folks directly to Alex at Soffseal so they can donate tires, wheels, and parts.
Hey, how'd that happen, I never get to be the good cop!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |
Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your help!
You're absolutely right. I just sent $20 using the Paypal link in the first posting. Very small sacrifice compared to that gentleman's. I hope the son has many fond memories of his father while cruising that Camaro.
I will keep looking for ways to support the personnel fighting this war - I will also look for political efforts to change these recent military policies I don't agree with or like. Thanks for the link. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif TOM BRESKE |

Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your help!
I'll send him a check next week. Those military guys are real American heros. I think Ben Stein wrote a farewell piece and included a salute to those heros.
While we are in the giving mood......there is a heartbreaking story on chirpthird.com in the SSOA:Back Porch about a young boy named Matt Reese. If you were anything like me this kid will remind you of yourself when you were that age. (Did that make any sense?) Cancer...twice. Tough kid! |

Here's a bump for ya: Another young gear head needs your help

Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your help!
Let me hop on the old soap box for a second here. I've seen a lot of these types of post on the internet in the past few months. Admittedly many have been on www.ar15.com just due to the nature of the site. I'm talking about everything from sending pictures of cars to kids with cancer to helping out our brave heroes who are taking the fight to the terrorist. I am proud to say I have observed the fact that automotive sites are generating quite a bit of publicity and donations to these worthy causes.
We take a lot of ridicule for being unsophisticated car nuts but maybe we are not such bad guys after all! Just a thought. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

This is good. I consider it an indirect way to support our troops. You'll never miss the money from your Paypal account. I won't.

Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your hel
Aloha all, Just wanted to say that the Camaro that was restored was presented to Lance Colton during this past SEMA. I got to go to the dinner that night where Lance and his mother both got to say their thanks. Both were very appreciative and were still in shock of how the car turned out. Also to let the folks know that the excess funds ($2000) that were left over were presented to Lance and his mother and were earmarked for a scholorship for Lance.
Many thanks to members here and the Team Camaro/Chevelle sites that help make this dream come true as well as other sponsors and companies and the 2 different Tech Schools that did all the work in getting the car completed and to SEMA on time. |
Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your hel
NBC Nightly news did a follow up story just as you described two nights ago at the end of their broadcast.
They retold the entire story, then showed it being unveiled at SEMA. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: Fallen hero Father/Son project: needs your hel
The thanks that Lance and his Mother gave at the ARMO reception was very moving, in fact the master of ceremonies asked everyone in the room who donated money, time or product to the project to stand and about half the room stood up!
Most moving was Lance's Mother asking us all to remember her husband, Lance's Dad, who gave his life in Iraq. Mother and child were both very strong and very proud. -Sam |
